lowering a car?

Hey guyz i just finsihed all the body work on my eg and im lookin to lower it. I just have a few problems... 1st of i can only pull a good 200-300 dollars. And if i do lower it... how much of a hassle is it gonna be in the winter?..... i cant store my car for winter cause i need it all year round.. but i want that clean low look to the car as well. I know coilovers are adjustable but they cost too much for a whole set. Whats my best bet? ( for that price range)

I wouldn't lower it too much for a few reasons, you're concerned about winter, and you don't have cash for shocks, and you also won't need a camber kit

Yeah $2-300 isn't enough if you want to lower it properly. Springs alone would be that price. I drive my car year round but its only lowered 1.5" and I ride on 15" Steelies instead of 14"

Pick up a set of springs in the FS section for $100. Using them will remove the whell gap you have and you won't have any worries in the winter. You can still run your stock shocks and won't sacrifice too much ride quality or camber.

All this can be easily done under you budget.

Well ive never driven in the winter but i have Goldlines 2'' Drop springs and there pretty functional...but i suggest coilovers if you want to adjust your ride height frequently.

Tom Motorsport coilovers are less then $150 i think

ya toms coils are cheap but what you pay for is what you get,
and if you lower them too much your shocks will be blowen in a month

ok... heres the deal... DON'T LOWER YOUR CAR!!! save your pennies and do it properly. buy a full coilover set, a camber kit, and keep your stock shock/spring set up.
this way you can get lowwww in the summer and ride like a monster truck in the winters.
just switch from coilovers and stock set up when it is time.
you may ask... why wouldn't i just raise my coilovers?
well... sometimes they rust, which looks like poo. and the actual pieces used to adjust them may become seized, and you will be unable to lower your car again in the spring.

changing a full coilover set up is extremely easy. all you need is a 19mm (lug nuts) and 2 14mm wratchets/wrenches. and whammy.
the only problem you will run into is that your lca bolts will be seized and will take alot of work on your part (drilling them out, air chizzle) but other than that. whammy. or just pay someone on here. i would do it for $100, but wouldn't take liability for your lca bolts.

You watched Anchorman one to many times "Whammy" LOL

Good point though! :D
