lowering 2.5inches

Alrite well i stopped by a couple of shops today to check out how much it will be to lower my car. It came out to much more than I expected. More than I was willing to spend, somewhere around $1100. Reason why its so expensive was cause of that frekin Camber kit. $500 for a full kit.

Anyone know a cheaper place to buy camber kits or any shops around that will do the whole lowering job for a cheaper price if I buy the lowering springs and cambrid kit of them.

I was willing to spend $600 but $1100 is a little over my limit for a car that im gonna sell in 2 years.

i got my camber kit used for $140 on here

What kind of springs?
What kind of camber kit?
What shop?

Springs should be no more then $300 and as for a camber kit, I'd shop around. The rear kits are pretty cheap.

2.5 inches in winter? hahaha... that's a pretty nice drop

Sperkie 17-Dec-2004 10:30 AM

Hey gotta do it sometime. Can't wait for the summer.

springs: new, anywhere from $250 - $350. and from my experience i wouldn't go any lower than 1.75f 1.5r... do some searches here to see what i mean.

camber kit: if you don't drop it TOO much, i.e. less than 1.5", you should be ok without one. if more, than ya, u need a kit. i found an ingalls camber kit on ebay for $300 cdn shipped, then another $100 or so to install.

ultimately my suggestion is h&r sport springs with stock shocks which should last you a while. for this setup you shouldn't expect to spend more than $450 - $500.

Buy the springs and the kits on TCC used. Save you money. You don't need to buy new ones since you are gonna let go the car in a couple years and seems like performance isn't what you are after, but mostly for looks.

There are always people selling lowering springs, H&R, Tein bleh bleh bleh.

imported_t_dot_SiR 17-Dec-2004 01:03 PM

tein are good stuff indeed, not that bad.... haha

well, if you're just going for looks and don't care if it has performance or what brand it is.... u can always find some cheesy ones on ebay for cheap and it'll last u for 2 years...

cee_mon 17-Dec-2004 01:06 PM

No one mentioned the washer trick to fix rear camber?
Also iam running on 1.8 springs without a camber kit, and i dont have it that bad at all.

Sperkie 17-Dec-2004 04:56 PM

Thanks a bunch for the advice. I'm gonna do my little search and find out why i should not go anywhere lower than 1.5.

BTW, Ebay site is great. tons of more cheaper stuff on there.

punkindrublic 17-Dec-2004 05:03 PM

you can go lower then 1.5", people just say you need a camber kit doing so. i used to have my nuespeed race springs with no camber kit and no noticable camber wear either

imported_sane 18-Dec-2004 01:50 PM

simply put:

go lower than 1.5" and the ride quality suffers. suspension travel is non-existent. and yes u can do anything you want without a camber kit... but don't kid yourself you've got SERIOUS NEGATIVE CAMBER if you drop more than 1.5" without a camber kit.

kimchee 19-Dec-2004 08:01 PM

Driving with negative camber can cause other problems... like screwing up your wheels bearings.

That shop you went to is trying to rip you off regarding the camber kit. I got my SPC camber kit for all 4 corners, and it cost me just a hair over 200 bucks.

What shop? I'm looking for a full camber kit.

SiR JP 20-Dec-2004 05:01 PM

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought the shop was trying to sell you a camber kit for that price. Regardless, $500 dollars is waaaaay too much for a camber kit.
