Lower ball joints

Lower ball joints
I changed my baljoints a few months ago and noticed with the new ones that there was no grease in the boot but there was some on the joint itself, jus this morning it started to make a a real noticeable squeeking noise when turning. When i jacked up the car to check the noise went away. I was jus wondering if the boot is suppose to have grease inside or only on the joint? because the kit didnt come with any grease so i assumed i didnt need to put any in. Thanks

the lower ball joints must be greased! there are two types of ball joints, ones with zirc fittings for constant greasing, and the sealed type that is pre-greased.
if yours are aftermarket, and they have holes at the top for zirc fittings, then you've been running them dry for the past few months.
also, the boot is an indicator; if the boot has a spring-clip around it, then it's sealed, and should be good to go. If it has no boot around it, then it should be greasable with a grease gun.
