Looking for new rubber

Sup everyone,

I'm looking for some summer tires.
What are you guys running on your rides?
What do you recommend..

I have the Falken Azenis and Kuhmo Ecsta 712 and the Toyo Proxies in mind...

let me know

imported_94EG6HB 01-Aug-2002 01:44 PM

+1 for proxies...

Decent tire that won't leave you poor...

90EFHB 01-Aug-2002 03:53 PM

Found proxies are not the best in the rain....Kumo's are said to be nice sticky tire and I am not familiar with the Falkens
What about Yoko's...the parada is nice if you have the $$$$

mechatune 01-Aug-2002 09:33 PM

yoko paradas

#1 yoko paradas (spec2) or even the 1st ones.
#2 nito 555s
#3 toyo proxes
#4 kuhmo ecsta supras

The Falken Azenis Sport are one of the most higly rated and in demand budget priced tires on the market today. I hear you can get 15" for around $130 cdn. They are super sticky but may wear fast since they are quite soft. Some cars from the Toronto Subaru Club run them for autocross and I have heard nothing but good about the tires, wet or dry conditions. The Subaru guys had a group buy for them from Wheels Direct.

If you look at the last issue of Sport Compact Car, there was a tire guide and the review was favourable. Also in a recent issue of SCC, there was an article about drag radials vs other tires and the Falken Azenis Sport was used as the street tire for the comparison.

I am going to get a set once my current tires are worn out, probably end of this summer.

Kuhmo 712 205/40/16

rides really nice, comfortable, quiet, strong sidewall for quick cornering, really nice in the rain...

not sure on tread life though, only had them about 3000km

SiR-Racer 02-Aug-2002 03:22 PM

Another vote for Kumho 712's!

These tires are awesome, best bang for the buck out there (unless they've raised the prices since i've bought them).

I agree with everything ROB THE BRUCE says about these tires. Get them and you wont be disappointed!

ROB THE BRUCE 02-Aug-2002 03:45 PM

how long have you had your SiR-Racer?

curious about the tread wear...

gcivic 03-Aug-2002 04:01 PM

I'll go for da yoko paradas, a friend of mine have them and he said it's good even in da rain, the only problem is they are a little expensive but it's worth it

Sir Fugi 05-Aug-2002 02:04 PM

What about the Bridgestone Potena RE730.

Where can i get a good price for them (205/15/50)

Some place quoted me like $1000 installed. I thought that was kinda expensive for tires???

Stick with a major manufacturer for tires. I've seen too much sets of Kumho 712's with the sidewalls bulging (torn plies). Yokohama, Bridgestone, and Toyo (just not FZ4's) are respectable companies.

I've heard quite a few good things about the Falken Azenis tires, but don't have any personal takes on it.

BellaRSport 06-Aug-2002 06:26 PM

i used to have Yoko A520 but now have Yoko AVS:thumbup: . way better but not budget friendly. p7000 suck IMHO. they came on my rims:(

SiR-Racer 06-Aug-2002 06:34 PM

i've had my Kumho's on for about 2.5 summers now. no problems here.
