Lightest 15"-16" Wheels / Rims?

Hey, I'm in the market for some new 15"-16" wheels for the track.
Please contribute and post a pic or further info on the rims in which you think are lightweight. Price, make and bolt pattern put aside.

Some of my ideas are:

SSR Type-C's or Competitions
http://www.wheelspecs.com/specs/imag..._typecgold.png

15" starting at 8.0 lbs each
16" starting at 11.0 lbs each

Volk Racing TE37's
http://rayswheels.co.jp/emenu/datas/VOLK/01_TE37/02.JPG

15" starting at 8.5 lbs each
16" starting at 11.2 lbs each

Spoon Sports SW388's

15" starting at 8.6 lbs each
16" starting at 11.9 lbs each

Mugen MF8's

16" at 12.0 lbs each

Mugen MF10's

rims

If cash is an issue check these out
http://enkei.com/HPSpecPAGES/rpf1Specs.html

From what I have seen they retail b/w
$800-$900 USD from a guy on ebay.
Now I did see them retail $230 USD each on an online retailer.

same here... but what are the weight specs on it?
if only they weren't so expensive..

konig heliums are also a wise choice!

Nova_Dust 05-Feb-2004 12:46 PM

Lightest 15" x 6.5 is SW388 (8.6). TE37 is 0.2 lb more.

Spoon will be my only choice.

imported_gatherer 05-Feb-2004 12:47 PM

wieght is over rated.... wanna go fast mod the driver... I can't afford those rims....

imported_SW20 MR2 05-Feb-2004 01:48 PM

Racing Hart CP-035 is another possibility.

bbarbulo 05-Feb-2004 01:58 PM

Konig Subzero was my 2nd choice

not that it matters much. but thanks for the suggestion sw20! btw, how's the mr2 lookin like now? still w/ the volk gt-p's?

all the information here can be found on www.wheelspecs.com

Nova_Dust 06-Feb-2004 12:03 AM

7.9lb, not bad for 15x6 :)

imported_SW20 MR2 06-Feb-2004 10:20 AM

It's still in the shop. You can see pics of my paintjob and bodwork on the link below. Yep, I still got the GT-P's. :D

mod the driver? as in to gain more driving experience? or literally, like to shed some pounds, lose weight? haha

mechatune 06-Feb-2004 12:56 PM

Advan RG's

16" at 12.7 lbs each

Nova_Dust 06-Feb-2004 01:08 PM

mechatune 06-Feb-2004 06:45 PM

yea man.. but i couldn't find any specs for them. they are somewhat like the design of the mugen mf8 so i guess they'd be the same weight... around 9lbs.

anything forged by volk is as light as a jap umbrella girl.

bahahh :p

I don't think they're as light as 9lb, but if I remember correctly the lightest rim in production at 15" is the Spoon SW88... or the Regamaster :nods: Someone correct me if I'm wrong, cuz my memory sucks! :)

well then you're corrected.
the lightest rim in production at 15" is the racing hart cp-035 right now. check the postings above man.. 7.9lbs.

the next closest one is the ssr competitions or type-c's in north america at a measly 8.0lbs per rim at 15"

fine, the volks should be around 10lbs.

someone should sticky this...

Nova_Dust 08-Feb-2004 07:09 PM

15" comes in different widths (I am sure you all know) so depending on what width you want, different weight applies.

Like I said, the lightest 15x6.5 is SW388 (3.88kg). Not the lightest in 15" family, but lightest 15x6.5 in the market.

So Monkey, have you made up your minds on what rim to get?

yup, we all know that. i guess my mistake was that i assumed that the 15"&16" rims w/ the lowest weight in its narrowest width carried that same lowest weight-width ratio.

as for my rim choice it's up in the air...
advand rg's, ssr competitions, work emotion cr kai's, wedsports..

basically, something bronze-gold. u can't go wrong w/ that in either a white or black car.

Nova_Dust 08-Feb-2004 11:24 PM

I see. Yes Bronze colour looks amazing on just about any car. If I weren't so stubborn on SW388 flat black look, I would go with Buddy Club QF wheel.

yea, Buddy Club P1's are great too. these are weights for the QF forged rims...

http://www.upauto.co.uk/Buddy%20Club...ture%20081.jpg

15" starting at 9.9 lbs each
16" starting at 11.4 lbs each

Nova_Dust 09-Feb-2004 12:47 PM

Either way, it is 5 spoke or 6, 4 lug or 5 lug, black or bronze. Pretty easy to pick if you ask me. My goal is to have a new set of rims on my car after 20 months.

ryuujin 09-Feb-2004 01:14 PM

I want RG's :yummy:
