Lets talk weight reduction...

ok, so I have a 92 si hatch, but I guess this can go for everyone... What to take out? do you know any hidden things or anything like that?

my list:
a/c
p/s
cruise cont.
Spare, jack
carpet, rear seats
Sound deadening under carpet and where the spare was
heater core
Moon roof
radio and speakers
bumper supports (I wouldn't do it, but it is weight)

What did I forget?

well to stey safe you can purchase light weight bumper supports(bbarbulo I think has info on a company that makes these) and you forgot the passenger seat ... you can remove the dash too .. it's weight and cen be taken out .... remove the driver seat and replace with a light wieght race seat ...

what is this for if you don't mind me asking??

I went to the track a few weeks ago, and my car is 2260lbs with out me in it... I took out the pas. seat, rear seat, jack and spare. I want to get the car down to 2000lbs. the car stock is 2250, but I threw an engine in, so it is a lil more heavy

and it is so I can run s2k Kid at the 1320 :P

the heater core is more than 2 lbs when it is filled with fluid. Plus, every pound adds up.

Ya, but what are you gonna do w/o the heater core?? Not drive the car in winter? Why not take the headliner, windshield wipers, rear hatch, doors, seats, all glass except windshield, dash frame and dash, all lights, e-brake cables, stereo and related wiring, handles and locks... heat shileds, dust shields... replace the gas tank with a fuel cell, get a motorcycle battery instead of the big 12 V... take the exhaust off... the exhaust is like 25-30 lbs minimum!

LoudAccord, quick questions... how many cars do you have? How old are you? Out of curiosity?

I am 23, I have 3 cars... my civic is the only car working now... lol

I have a pheonix yellow accord, captiva blue pearl civic and a black 1st gen teg.

edit: thought I would throw in some pics

my accord... that is an h22a in there.

and my civic... sorry for the big pic, this is the day I got it... but it looks the same, but I took off the hub caps, and it is lower now... and that van is not mine... the pic was taken from the person's house that I got the civic from but that 2.5RS is my g/f's car

why not take out your alternator?

if you're only using it for drag and you're running no electrics, you don't really need one.

battery will be strong enough to get that sucker started...

you can take out a bunch of fuses, some bulbs, don't forget to empty your ashtray and take some laxatives the day before.

Ok, cuz reason I ask is if this Civic is your daily transport, then you are an idiot... but if you got other cars, then that's good. And the age thing... well, if you are 16-18, then your question fits your age... but being 23, your question is... well, you think like a 16 year old. LOL j/k Decide what you want out of this car before you post questions like this... are you building a dragster, crosser, or street car?

drag car... I want to be able to drive it on the streets also... fo a lil... comparing... as far as my question, I was just seeing if there was anything that I was forgetting... I haven't had the civic for very long, so I thought I would ask the civic experts.

edit: aslo, it wasn't just for me... this is for other people that are serious about the weight of their car also. I already have an engine swap, took out a/c, p/s, cruise, radio, speakers, heater core and interior
