Hi tire experts,

I'm planning to get myself a new set of summer/all-season tires. I know this topic has been asked over and over again, but there is little information specifically on the Kumho 711's. Actually, the followings are my needs for these tires, from highest to lower priority:

1) Price
2) Noise comfort
3) Hydroplane resistance

These tires would be used for daily driving on my 16" wheels. I plan to get either 205/45-16 or 195/50-16.

I realize the Kumho 711's are the least expensive tires that has the above sizes. The 712 are probably next in line. Could somebody please share their experience with regard to the above 3 criteria? I read mixed reviews on www.tirerack.com on the subject; some say the tires are noisy as hell, while some say they're really quiet. I figure I'd just ask you guys here since you guys would be more credible than just some average joe on tirerack.

Also, I'm leaning towards 195/50-16 since they're narrower and should theoretically give lower tire noise, and higher hydroplane resistance. I'll be putting them on 7" rims. Do you guys think that's a good idea? Is it gonna look too skinny on the rims?

I have the 712's on my 2000 Si and I think they're pretty good. As far as price goes, I bought them in the classified forum so they were cheap. I don't find them noisy at all, even on the highway. They are also fairly comfortable although mine are 205/40/17's. I have yet to get anything resembling hydroplaning and I've been trying to test the edge of their limits in the wet. I haven't hit standing water on the highway yet though so I'm sure something will make them hydroplane. I think they're great tires for the price, they perform well enough that I wouldn't drive through corners fast enough to slip them. The only slippage I get regularly is a bit of understeer when the rpms are high coming out of a corner.

I got 711's on a 2002 LX Sedan, pretty much you do get what you pay for. They are a little noisy compared to other tires, and they wear pretty quick, so you definetly should do the frequent tire rotations to say the least. Other then that they are a bit fat and buldgey looking. I'd say getting these is definetly better then running on bald tires, so if its all you can afford go for it! ... I also had them before on my Altima. They lasted a lot longer on the that car for some reason, I guess I just didn't drive it as Hard. One last thing, these tires are terrible at taking corners, so I wouldn't sugggest any high speed turns (especially on the On Ramps)

I have 712's in 195/55/15 on for two weeks.

Very good budget tire.

Good performance wet/dry..

I wouldnt really base my choice on road noise. Why not just turn up the tunes?? lol

I'd focus on tread pattern, and tire life. that's just my opinion...

712's ....

115 each balanced and installed (205/40/17)

more road noise than my 14" Toyo Spectrums (naturally) ...not annoying in the least though.

we've had lots of rain over the last couple weeks, and no slippage here

Wow I got my 711's for like $50 or so each at that tire place at McCowan and Sheppherd Wheel and Tire or something like that. I think they normally sell for around $100 a piece though. my dad knows the Owner "Colin" this Jamaican Chinese guy so don't go by my pricing But if you do go there Colin is the only guy who can give you the real deals since he owns the place

You could tell him Moe sent you, but then he'll be like "who the hell is he" lol It was my dad that did the deal for me. Oh yeah its Wheels and Tires Direct. Only thing I can suggest is ask if Colin is there and then tell him you want the cheapest tires for your civic, Since the Kumho's are the cheapest he'll recommend those. Then ask him what his best price is .
