k20 swap into eg???
#2
if u have a whole lot of money... damn... its worth it... go for it... someday somehow... the K's will be the popular swap... the B still rules because of its swapping cost....
there are mounts, axles, driveshaft, linkage etc specially designed to fit K-series into EG or EKs... but they can be an extra few Gs to spent on top of the motor.... so look at around more than 6gs for sure... and the labour???
personally... i would stay with the B or perhaps do an H.... however... if i had the money... why not do a K and turbo it? someone did in this forum... the results was pretty damn good

the results are better than any swap available but it hasnt been perfected yet. The complete swaps are becoming cheaper and cheaper (~~3000-4000ish) BUT labour to get it installed...yikes. Needs a lot of custom fabrication for the shift linkages too.
I cant see spending that much money unless you REALLY love your civic.

All you need is money, really. If you are short of it, then the least you can do is be patient and keep saving.
Or get a loan and wish your car never gets stolen, wrecked, and never get laid off so you have a steady income for monthly payment.

haha well dont take me wrong, i love my civic..but the thought of spending that much money on engine work makes me a bit sick to my stomach. I'd take the money to put the K20 in and invest it in a real RSX lol
but no doubt, when the swap is done it looks great in the engine compartment..at least the ones ive seen, fits nicely, enough room..no spaghetti wires..way out of my price range

its impoosible to do it for 3gs unless there is something wrong with it... look at the "hybrid racing" website... all those custom fabricated parts can total beyond 2g already... included a decent K motor... another 3-4 g...... that's 6g for sure already... 1niceSi tells it all.... atleats 6000 US to start with.... and who's there to install it? another g or so for sure.... anything too cheap, its probably stolen by theory......

Yea I did my research! I wanted to do a K series swap in my project 5th gen hatch.
The K24 that I looked into is legit, and cost $2400CDN...and that doesn't include so necessary components. These motors are not stolen...the seller provided the VINs, and the motors next existed (this does not mean stolen), because they were never put in the cars they were intended for. Virgin K24s...lol. The motors were being transported via train when the train crashed.
So 3gs for a complete K series swap into an EG...sure....lol.

There was also a write up on a K series swap in Sports Compact Car magazine last summer(I have the issue) in an EK hatch where they also installed a turbo and got 455 HP. It also has a write up on how to do the K series swap as they will get more popular as the b series engines start to dwindle and the K series becomes more available. It is a very extensive swap as there is a lot involved in doing it.
