oh ya, i''ve seen it done...but it also doesn't come cheap....i prolly wouldn't put it in a SLAMMED car anyways.....sell urs, and make a sleeper with something less flashy...urs is nice, but with a k20, if u just rip on it, i'm sure u'll tear something off ur car....lol

RDub99 11-Nov-2005 03:44 AM

ya, its been done and is do-able if you have the money for it..

10K for 220whp? what a waste of money. here is one piece of advice, if you are going K, K24 is the monster motor. don't waste your time or money on a K20.

yeah..for that price, i could do a nice b series, with a turbo..and endup with a k20 killer.....

the more i look into it, the less attractive it seems.....there seems to be better bang for the buck...thanks guys :D

imported_t_dot_SiR 17-Feb-2006 12:18 AM

the only reason people go into k-series nowadays is its "potential" once you upgrade the interals or boost that low compression beast.... b-series is still much cheaper, but they are getting too common, that's why...

of course if you doing a showcar, something for unique and award... go k-series...

or go for a rsx or ep or something...

for 10K to drop in a k20/k24 might seem too much for 220whp and you can have a b18c boosted with suspension/or other stuff upgrades for 10K... and you could be running anywhere beyond 250-300whp...

however, the k-series can also reach that amount easier too

its not the k-series is costly compare to the b-series... its just the swap into EG itself is costly... i met you before if you remember who bought your ps2.... i see you're going into show car or something... so if money really isn't a huge problem... drop in the EK... built it over time... you'll be one heck of a show winner haha

imported_tsr_75th 26-Feb-2006 03:21 PM

how does it cost 10k for a k20 swap? you can find complete type s motors w/tranny,ecu,harness,shafts, and linkage for around 3000 in canada. mounts maybe around 800.install maybe another 1000+. how does that add up to 10 g notes?!?

imported_VinceTEC 26-Feb-2006 04:21 PM

Motor: $3000-3500
Mounts: $800
Custom Shafts: $500-700
Wiring Harness: $550
Clutch Line: $100
Header: $600-800
Rad or Relocating a Dual Core Half-Rad: $200-250
Shifter Mounting Kit: $220
Fuel Lines: $400
Fuel Pressure Regulator: $240
Fuel Rail: $200
Modifications to Midpipe: $200
Labour $1500
EP3 Pulley & Bracket (no power steering): $200

And there's still more...

There are certain things you can cheap out on... you can modify the stock RSX fuel rail, you can rehead the RSX drive shafts (prone to breaking), you can mount your shifter on the floor like a truck, etc.

The setup listed above is for an EG/DC chassis with NO power steering or a/c. EK swaps require a little more work for a nice-sitting engine... this will include an EG cross member, steering rack, and LCA's.

It's not the engine that costs alot... it's everything else you need to get that motor working in your car.
