I perfer K&N I think the mushroom design doesn't allow the same air flow.

I think the air flow is restricted because of the pipe entrance... they just look that way to me...has nothing to do with filter restrictions that I don't know about.

Mushroom flow more air than paper trated with oil (k&n)

But mushroom also filter less than the k&n so take your pick.

You want less air restriction...mushroom
More cleaning of the air....k&n

I'd go with the K&N

Reason being, K&N allows more air flow than an average disposable air filter, and at the same time, traps the dirt properly. The air filter is the engine's first line of defense against wear, therefore I'd be tempted to use the best quality product available to prolong the life of my motor and enhance its' performance.

K&N is not paper, it's gauze

The gauze or sponge debate has gone on forever... just use whatever you think is right for you. Each has ups and downs to it. BTW a lawnmower uses an oiled up sponge as a filter.
