Jdm d15b vtec sohc

Hey guys,

Im gonna be getting my hands on this engine soon and i was thinking i might swap it into my car. Its nothing crazy and not what i want in the long run but for now an extra 30 horse on my car plus the vtec would be fun cause i have a slow dx right now.

From what i've read i would need

- engine
- trany
- p08 ecu

and i have all that.

now as for the install im lost. I would be tackling this on my own and its my first swap so if you guys could direct me in the right direction or perhaps give me some tips on this swap that would be greatly appreciated.

I heard that one of the harder parts of this swap is wiring up the vtec. Any tips?

thanx guys

well you don't NEED the tranny or ecu, but a shorter geared tranny will be much better than the long geared DX tranny. Same with the ecu, you can have your ecu chipped and modded to activate vtec (PM me if you need help with this).
P08 ecus can sometimes be tricky to find, now some people will say you can just use a p28, but the fuel/ignition maps are different between the p28 and p08, so the p08 is ideal.
Now, using a chipped ecu is just as good (if not better), b/c you can have the p08 program put onto the chip, set vtec to where ever you want, set the rev limit to where ever you want, remove the speed limiter, add a CEL shift light, a 2-step launch control, etc etc.

The hardest part about the swap, removing the B1tch pin....lol.
Get a friend who's done a swap before and a case of beer and a pizza and you'll be good to go.
Otherwise, just take your time, find a DIY online somewhere and have fun....post up if you run into any problems.

if you have the car with the swap done what else do you need?

lol... yeah i know what you are saying... but i want the engine in MY car... the car with the engine in it now has brake problems and gas leak issues. Im buying the car for a parts car. I need things from it for my car and for my dads car. I wasn't expecting it to have the engine but since it does i was wondering about the swap over. This parts car is in rougher shape then my car by far so its not worth fixing it and converting all the **** to my car to it. Id rather swap the engine into my car. Hope you get what i mean.

Anyways i should be able to figure it out.. just remove it and put it back in my car the same way.
