Japanese American Brake Fitting Compatibility

HI GUYS, I BLEW A BRAKE LINE AT A RECENT SOLO2 EVENT. JUST WONDERING IF ANY OF YOU HAVE HAD EXPERIENCE WITH BRAKE FITTINGS. i WAS SOLD FITTINGS THAT WERE AN AMERICAN STYLE, BUT THEY SEEM TO THREAD IN AND SEAT NICELY IN MY HONDA. WILL THEY SEAL, OR SHOULD I USE AN ADAPTER?? THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK.

It depends on what kind of fitting? Banjo bolt? Flare fitting?

Common practice is to match up the appropriate diameter/thread pitch and the line size.

You have to be careful though as some NPT threads are
unbelievable close to metric pipe thread.(1/4 NPT and 10mm Metric is a good example)

I would use a thread pitch gauge to compare your ID vs your OD threads. If it's not EXACTLY the same, don't use the fitting.

Oh and easy on the CAPS.

with hydraulic fittings don't mix and match. it may fit, but it won't be right. there is nothing imperial on a honda car!!!!!

Are you talking about hard or soft lines?
All honda hardlines are simply 3/16" std flare pipe with metic fittings.

EL Guy - if you replaced a softline, just make sure it holds under pressure, and make sure that it's properly secured so it won't snag on the tire or suspension when you're turning/driving (zip ties work great for keeping the softlines in check).
