Jackson Racing Superchargers on Stock Internals

I have a b18c1 in my 96 ek hatch... this summer i am doing one of either... boosting with turbo, supercharger or building n/a... on www.jacksonracing.com the superchargers are selling for 2200 US... that seems reasonable for the power it makes...

http://www.jacksonracing.com/graphic...Integragsr.gif

thats on a pretty much stock GSR with I/H/E and ignition upgrades... for my stock 140whp/115wtq (never tested, but im sure its around there) thats a huge upgrade if it could run on stock internals... i think its around 6lbs of boost for this supercharger...

you guys think i could run this on a stock gsr long-term? or what mods would i need to make this work?

I have a $4000 budget roughly this summer for upgrades/installations and etc... i was going to get my motor built... but i am gaining a lot, but not as much as a turbo or supercharger... i know i could build it then turbo it and it would probably be pretty crazy, but... i am thinking one thing for now is enough... this seems to me to be a pretty good spot to drop some cash...

why not just fix all the problems you have first before you go and cause more problems.

Bryce 15-May-2006 06:17 PM

Haha bbarbulo... i agree.. Well i hear about them everyday..

Mike unfortunately just has bad luck, sucks though its a good motor! but be nice! lol

OH and im sure we all know to stay away from ssautochrome ... lol.. we all know their turbines are.. caulked together .. :p

Bryce, I'm just being real man.... I would never go spend more money on something that isn't right to begin with. Make it right, then build upon that.

it's never enough....
you have to plan ahead so you save money in the long run with something reliable... u either do it in stages or do it all at once
plan your build wisely....

in defense of myself... i am fixing pretty much all of the problems this weekend hopefully... so, the summer, it should be in solid running shape and waiting for that supercharger/turbo or whatever.

I totaly agree with you... mikes the one who needs to fix the trac on his window.. im usually in the passengers seat and its starting to get hot... i mean... he swapped his motor before fixing the window... ithink hes just doing it to piss me off. BUT totaly agree with you :wavey:

mike... come see me today.. god ill even pay for the parts on that window lol....

personally i think superchargers are better left alone to v6 and v8 something that already has balls. since they are belt driven.

turbo is the way to go on a b series.

imported_mikepasini 16-May-2006 02:16 AM

i was thinking superchager since the jackson racing gsr ones are 2195 US... CDN thats not much, i could have it installed for not too miuch more... just wondering how reliable they would be on a stock GSR motor...

chris_si98 16-May-2006 07:29 AM

2195US is cheap?

A turbo kit is the same price.. and you get more power and more fun out of it.

a s/c is just like a turbo. It can be reliable if done properly.

imported_mikepasini 16-May-2006 11:06 AM

well, not cheap, but coming directly from the manufacturer as the MSRP, compared to 3000+ for almost every turbo, 5000+ for edelbrock and etc... it just seemed like a good deal... if i could be putting 220whp/160tq approx with straight off the line acceleration (*cough *cough wheelspin...)... but i was just thinking it must perform solidly... with the exhchange rate... probably $2500... for the kit... i think that seems decent... plus, buy the upgrade for it and add 10-15% power... i dunno... remember i have a budget... so if i could squeeze everything i need for $3000... then i could buy my rotassssss.... and i mean squeeze everything in, in terms of being completely reliable... thats what i mean. can i run this supercharger on stock internals?

chris_si98 16-May-2006 11:32 AM

you can piece a turbo kit together for less than $3000 and that's with dyno tuning.

You don't need to buy a manufactered kit.

But if you dont want to piece together a kit because you dont want to research how to do it.. then by all means.. spend $2500 on a s/c kit that leaves no real room for upgrade.

imported_SilverSleeper 16-May-2006 12:15 PM

No matter which road you go. Don't be cheap. Do it right and don't cut corners, otherwise bad shyt happens. Personally, I'd go for a well thought out turbo kit.

Nova_Dust 16-May-2006 12:22 PM

Didn't you put in that B18C not too long ago? You have already outgrown its power?

Just wondering.

:D lmao all mike ever says is.... meh NEEDS MORE POWER good point tho lol

I got a buddy that makes 328whp at 14psi in his 97' GSR. Completely stock motor (internally).
I said it before and I'll say it again. Your power is in the TUNE!
Don't think XXPSI will mean XXwhp. Set yourself a goal.

You can only pick two of the following.
Reliable, fast, cheap.
reliable and fast would be my choice, but then it wont be cheap.

You're asking a question that has no definate answer. You want power, you want 300whp and expect to get the exact set-up to get it. Do some research, learn about compressor maps, intercoolers, injectors. Research everything about turbocharging.
Your question should be more specific. it's too broad, it's hard to help.

When I first got into Honda's, I was doing the same thing, but I remembered from when I built my Colt. The question's and concerns have to be specific.
