irradic steering
I bought some SiR rims and put them on my EF and ever since the steering is preety irradic, in the sense it moves randomly, like i gotta keep a firm grip on it. The tires came on it but i dunno could it be because the tread is too low, i also get vibration on the highway, could the be from the tires as well??? the fronts are OK....but the backs are messed, both are bald on the inside and one is more than the other........?

Uneven wear of tread, so replace tires for sure. Never ride on tires with different tread (UNLESS, left and right are the same, but never front and back).
Check for the wheel balance, make sure the wheels are straight. The wheel can be bent at the hub but you won't be able to tell from human eye. |
yeah i was thinking it was just the tread, what brand tire would you recommend??? cause i've been looking for a long time and there's sooooo many that i'm not sure, like best for the money in dry and wet is what I am looking for

wider tires track the road a lot more. they follow the crown of the road. get used to it if you run 205 tires. if you don't want to get used to it, get 195 tires. finally, any tire can be pretty good in the dry. tires that are great in the wet too are expensive. what's your budget like? I've had great luck with Yokohama Parada Spec 2s. I've already bought 2 sets, and I'd buy them again.

yes 205's def. track a lot.. you'll notice it if you purchase any wider tire.. myself I run bf goodrich g-force's.. expensive, I know.. but hell.. they are great tires.

My buddy had the same prob on his accord when he upgraded tp 17" rims w/225's. Got an alignment and it helped a bit.

well the ones i have on them now are 195/55/15 yokohama avs es 100.....I want tires that are sticky for dry and good for rain/wet conditions just in case.......budget, hmmmm....i'd say 300 but then again i dunno about high performance tires because i've never bought them before to be honest...my first set of rims.......so what would be a realistic budget to get good rubber??? i'm doing a LOT of homework and reading but i just get lost in the sea of reviews, which tire damnit lol.....?

300 might get you some used summer performance tires, but wetness handling probably won't be there since the tires could very well be 30% worn down, where the tread might not have enough depth to dispatch the water.
I bought Hankook Z212 new and will have them installed for this season. They are like Falken Azenis RT-615, not R compound but are your everyday summer performance tire that can part-take some weekend autocross and track event. If you want something like that, you need 600 dollars. You want R compound, like Toyo RA1 or Hankook Z211, add another 200 just to be safe. |
the phenomemon of pulling is tracking when getting a wider and stickier tire. my 205-50-15 would pull every which way with the grooves in the pavement. i changed to 195-55-15 and it doesnt do it as much

hhmmmm 600 eh? now i gotta figure out whether i wanna go 195/55/15 or 205/50/15.....any feedback on those 2????? my car's an EF and get's driven a lot on the higway......if that even helps.........

I have never driven 195 wide tires, I am between 185 and 205. 205 seems fine to me, I don't recall experiencing that "pull" issue.

you know what i was just using that tire calculator thingy at 1010 tires website and it says to keep it within 1 - 3% and with the 195 wide tires its 3.5% slow and with the 205 its only 1.9%.........so i take it i should go with the 205's then, only thing is it's gonna look like a jeep then because the car's not dropped.........meh......still confused????

i found a place selling the goodyear eagle F1 GS-D3 for $139 each, should i go for those??? or find some yokohama parada spec 2's????

k anyone and everyone who drives an EF can you please help a brother out and lemme know whut kinda wheel and tire setup ur running, cause i'm going nuts here trying to figure out what tire to buy.....any insight, feedback, whutever is greatly appreciated.........

Before spending money on tires, check if the rims are ok. Have they been curbed? Are they damaged?

They have same speed rating as my KDW, and cost very little(approx $100 a tire, give or take a bit for larger sizes). My husband bought them in 205/40/17 for $125 a tire. |
