intermitent unresponsive throttle at high RPM's.
Hi there,
I have a b18a with all the some top end engine work done (cams, valves, springs, etc) and I've expereinces some STRONG vibrations (i have solid enigne mounts..!) when i give it WOT at higher speeds, and at other times it simply does not response, it's as if the throttel is locked in at what ever RPM it's at, at the moment, and the pedal position has no effect.
I am running an ECU for a DOHC ZC...and my speed sensor does not work. the engine usually runs well, a little vibrations at ilde, but with the cams i expect that....any other idea's why the throttle would just sort of STOP working?
Thanks
matt.

you're probably experiencing detonation/and or a lean condition using a DOHC ZC ecu on a built b18a....keep beatin on it, see what happens (don't do this).
Get that thing tuned ASAP.
Anytime you change the cams, you NEED to get the car tuned, if you change the way and how much air enters/exits the engine, you NEED to change how much fuel is being delivered.
I'm running stage 2 cams in my b16 and the idle is smooth as stock, so you shouldn't be ok with a rough idle (unless they're huge cams, but even then there are ways of making big cams idle well).
I would, at the very least, get your ecu chipped to run the b18a program, but i'm willing to bet that will still leave your engine a fair bit on the lean side.

i know - i really do need to get it chipped...i just need to find the time to run down to see you...
I actually have BOTH a b18a AND and a DOHC ZC ecu, and hte ZC is by far better actually! lol
I"ll PM you about the tuning.
