Just got a short ram installed. I hear the whistling at half throttle is normal on from one on a D16Y7, but is there ANY way to get rid of this? I personally think it sounds like **** but I doubt there's much I can do. Searching the board didn't help too much either.

i installed an ebay one on my moms car and it whistled and sounded like shyt

no but if he puts acold air on he will hear a sucking sound, which i like, turn the radio down and shift into gear and you hear all the air being sucked in, but its definatly not a whistle sound.

Mine is a K&N setup, and it whistles loud... I like it, i dont see what the big deal is

It sounds like i got a belt that's rubbing like crazy...only a small section of the throttle though. Right around half throttle it just whistles like crazy, past that it sounds like any other intake. Its a vibrant, but it had to be modified to fit back behind my strutbar.

i get that same wierd whistle at half throttle on my stock intake... its really high pitched.... i have my resonator removed..

I get the whistle sound on top end, around 5000 rmp.
I thought it was the valve springs....?
Whatever it is, doesn't sound very healthy, especially because it comes at high rpm ranges, when the motor is under heavy load....

I know that noise too. Where the engine makes a squeal after about 5000 rpm...I don't know what that is but I don't like it.

As far as my intake making a whistle, I really don't know what to do. Are there any companies who's intake don't whistle on a D16Y7?

could be a leak in your intake as well.. possibly on the IM???
but its not all short ram intakes.. a friend has his on his integra and it doesn't make a whitsling noise but a nice deep sound..

my intakes have never whistled...but u can hear a hiss at idle or when u change gears it makes a lil hiss...which is normal, this wistle yall talk about is odd

its only on y7 TB's its vertical, not horzontal...mines done it from day one, its been on and off my car at least 20 times, i know its not an air leak, they all do it...

My buddy just purchased an Injen cold air for his Y7 engine. It's going on in a few days. I'll yet you guys know if his makes this whistle sound or not.

mine does it too, it depends on how much you lay on the throttle, i dont think the sound is comin from my filter tho, i thought it would be comin from the cap over my filter, since its got holes in it

I got D16Y7 as well, just put mine on a couple days ago. CAI tom motorsport. Sounds good but its got the whistling a bit too. I dont mind tho, sounds kinda koo tho. Intake roars when i floor it tho, sounds crazy...haha

i love that sound, i think its somethin to do with when the vtec kicks in, cause it only happend at like 4500 rpm through the rest of the power band on my car...i think its cool.
