intake for sir

hi,
just thinking of getting aem v2 for 00 sir.
just wondering, is it different part than the rest of the 00 civic? or it's pretty much the same for all 00 civic?

also, what is bypass valve or...what does it actually do? is it really necessary ?

thanks

EDIT

also, i'm just wondering of what would cause this...sorta high pitch sound..(kind of like turbo spooling sound) my friend had it in his civic but he doesn't really know where it's from. could it be from the intake? cause he got those cone-pipe k&n intake.

yeah, that's intake noise

as for your question... it's a diff't part number for your car.

bypass valve allows air to come into the engine to prevent hydrolock when the filter is fully submerged in water.

oh thanks..bbarbulo
so i guess it's worth to get the bypass valve ey...since i heard the v2 type might have some problem with water .
also, one more thing is that the rubber cover at the bottom front that's supposed to protect the engine and other parts from dust? i had to cut them off since they were like hanging. so would i have any problem installing v2? or do i need to replace this rubber cover before i install the intake?

its a good idea to keep the lower splash shield on for a car that is used in all weather conditions (rain, snow, dusty winds, etc).

not only does it direct airflow and affects aerodynamics, it also helps keep rain and dust outta your enginebay. a junk yard ought to have those peices pretty cheap.

see here is the thing... the bypass valve ONLY works when the filter is literally submerged in water. a lil bit of water can still get up there but odds are it'll evaporate in the warm intake before it has a chance to hydrolock anything.

install it, just be mindful of where and when you're driving. don't go trying to splash ppl on the sidewalk or anything :D

oh actually, what's the official name for that splash part thing though? i'm having a trouble finding it at car-part.

bbarbulo 25-Jul-2005 03:06 AM

you'd have to find a yard with.... say a bumper. then call them up and ask if they have the lower splash shield. it's not listed as a part on car-part cuz junk yards don't really keep a stock number for something that small.

oh alright..cool thx man:D
