ok well i got a 95 civic lx se as u know
1.5 L

now if i put an intake on it its not going to make a different
so basically its for the sound right
and if so should i just get a short air intake for liek 20 bucks

No, get a K&N filter, and remove your intake silencer box. Block the silencer terminals with something that won't get sucked into your intake. Then, point the front of the snorkel someplace where you think it may get some cooler air. Use the $20 for some shifter bushings.

labatia, I got your PM, but you didn't say what exactly you need clarification on. Basically, the OEM intake is designed to provide a certain volume and velocity of incoming air, while not making too much noise for the 80 year old's hearing aid :p So for us yungones we can do away with the intake silencer. But then, there are two gaping holes that will interupt vaccuum and air flow...so we gotta plug those. The stock intake is essentially a velocity stack. If you can replace any flex sections with silicone hose, do it. This will accelerate the airflow. The stock box provides the aerodynamics required to smooth out airflow, and the K&N will provide the least resistance to the path of air...so you will see improved throttle response, and more high end. Maybe 2 hp total. Not a big improvement, but you won't lose any bottom end like you would with a big intake. Big intakes are too big, and will thus reduce the velocity of the air charge. That more clear? Also, the stock location is pretty good for getting cool air, but sometimes you can slightly re-orient it, and get better results.

so go buy a k & n filter.. and something to block the air flow from the stock intake box

I live in Windsor...so unless you wanna come down to look at it... no :p Not the intake...don't block that. If you have an intake silencer box in your car...then you have two holes in your pipe, other than what you are supposed to have...they are pathways for air to enter the muffler box and come back to the intake...you will want to block only these two, not the main air intake. If you are not comfortable, then to start off...just get the K&N filter. Actually, if you can post a pic of your engine bay...I will point out the work needed. I have a 6th gen, so mine is different, but if you post a pic, I'll tell you what you need to do for your 5th gen.
