Intake Minor Problem.. Need Help
K, heres the problem, i bought a long shaft 2 piece intake that is supposed to go down into my bumper under my rad fan
now, i tried many different ways and still couldnt figure out how to get the 2nd piece with the filter down in the bumper... so right now ive only got the 1st piece with the filter attached to it sitting where the stock intake filter box was.... anybody know how i can get the 2nd piece down where it is supposed to go with the filter?? the mandrel bend in the pipe seems fine just how do i get the damn thing in there?
by the way its for a 89 si hatch

the 2nd piece u have to install from under the car...and feed it up through the hole where the stock air box resonator was (u gotta remove that too) and then attatch the piece with the cone filter from under the car to the piece that comes from the throttle body...it may require you to remove the front bumper or atleast remove the fender liner from the passenger side wheel well to access the resonator and to install the short pipe there
hope this was clear enough for ya

nvm i just went back and took off the filter where i realized there was the resonator hole, so do i take the WHOLE resonator out? and put the pipe thru and attach the intake below? how do i get the resonator box out, and once i slide the pipe thru do i leave the resonator box out permenantly?? i just need to kno how to get it out??

front bumper shouldn't take more than 20 minutes... unless your bumper screws(the flat ones with a big top) are seized...mine were and i had to cut one off and use a vise grip to twist them... that was hell

now, i jus talked to my dad, and he was wondering, where the engine gets its warm air from now? since all the stock air intakes are off, leaving u with only 1, the cold air, where does the warm air come in?

warm air is less dense than cold air, which in turn inhibits performance, hence the reason you are installing a cold air intake. There is only one intake of air , and u want it as cold as possible. You dont need warm air, and there is no warm air intake

I think you're confusing exhaust recirculation with intake air.
intake air should always be close to ambient temps... even if it's under the hood, the whole engine bay is cold at startup, so the "benefit" of warm air won't be realized anyways. By the time the engine bay would warm up, your engine is warm too and will benefit from cooler air. Besides, assuming your intake is metal of some kind, it will get heat soaked, so the air will heat up as it enters the throttle body.
as for EGR, that's... something else altogether, has nothing to do with your intake.
