intake manifold install went bad... help!!!!

put my obx intake manifold on today and now my car won't start, engines a d16z6, problem is there is no spot for two of the sensors which were on the old manifold, the two sensors on the thottle body r obviously back on, but the sensor beside tb on the manifold and the sensor at the bottom right, have no spots, r they important ? help !!!! pls

sounds like a missing IACV and possibly MAP sensor?? I mean... what sensors don't you have... cuz AFAIK FITV and TPS sensors are on the t-body itself. You'll prolly have to swap throttle bodies to something else.

imported_Team Rukus 14-Feb-2005 12:56 AM

do you mean intake manifold or exhaust manifold?
i didnt kno obx made intake manifolds?!?!

bbarbulo 14-Feb-2005 01:07 AM

ya OBX does... :-S

imported_flex2003 14-Feb-2005 09:33 AM

i'm assuming the the one i am missing is the map sensor, i have the tps on the thottle body and the sensor at the back of the tb not sure what that one is, is there any other engines obd1 of course that have a external map sensor thats not attached directled to the manifold ????

imported_flex2003 14-Feb-2005 09:34 AM

i have a gsr tb on right now

bbarbulo 14-Feb-2005 09:41 AM

I think the base SOHC has a remotely mounted MAP sensor on the firewall. But yeah... check the Helms manual to be certain, cuz I do OBD2 mostly.

imported_flex2003 14-Feb-2005 10:11 AM

thats what i tought it said in my haynes manual too, but what eslse could that module on the back of the manifold be ?

imported_flex2003 14-Feb-2005 10:12 AM

mines a si though d16z6

bbarbulo 14-Feb-2005 10:45 AM

there is all kinds of stuff on the back of an intake mani...EVAP control, FITV, IACV, MAP, and TPS are all in the area (t/b or mani). Anyways, each sensor has a part # on it, why don't you post the part #s and I'll tell you what the sensors are.

imported_flex2003 14-Feb-2005 11:09 AM

the sensor is Idle Air Control Valve IACV or Electronic Air Control Valve EACV it's bolted onto the stock intake manifold

imported_flex2003 14-Feb-2005 11:11 AM

how do i get around it so my car will idle right ?

bbarbulo 14-Feb-2005 11:12 AM

yeah, there are throttle bodies with those mounted right on them... like my D16Y7 throttle body, unfortunately for you it's a 3 wire IACV and it's OBD2

ELGUY 15-Feb-2005 05:01 PM

This is just a though, I recently installed a Jet v force, the manual itself has all of the color codes and locations for the tps sensor as well as the map. You should call Jet and tell them to send you and install manual. If your still beat, I may be able to send you pages from mine. If you need the info email me at ryan-h@quickmill.com. Good luck.

Don't make this thread totally useless. What was wrong and how did you fix it?

I don't particularly care but someone may have the same problem some day and if you post your fix maybe it will help someone.

bbarbulo 16-Feb-2005 12:52 AM

TDC, THANK YOU!!!! I totally agree

imported_flex2003 16-Feb-2005 09:02 PM

the sensor Idle Air Control Valve IACV or Electronic Air Control Valve EACV uses the coolant temp and air temp to control the vehicle's idle, it's hooked up to the coolant lines but i have no way to hook it up to get the air temp, but i guess just using the coolant line is good enough, because it idles fine.....

bbarbulo 17-Feb-2005 01:23 AM

the part you're talking about.. if it uses coolant is called a FITV, Fast Idle Thermal Valve... the other part which is separate is an IACV, Idle Air Control Valve.
