in my opinion you can use any intake as long as the internal diameter is larger than 60mm (the size of the stock t/b)....actually since you said that it was a 1st gen b16 the t/b is 58mm.
Do you plan to get a cold air intake or a short ram intake?
Either way make sure to use a K&N air filter.
Yes del sol VTEC ones will work. I used to have a DC 4-1 ceramic 1 peice, but i much prefer the Vibrant 4-2-1 with 2.5" collector that i am currently using.
Do you plan on using a 4-1 or 4-2-1?

intake

well i was looking at the aem v2 long ram cold air intake or injen short!!

i heard the long cold air 1 is alittle better!!

as far as header's i had 4-1 before in my 97 civic and was very pleased , so why change a good thing right!!!

but i am always open 2 opinions , you never know 2 much

short rams are dyno proven to make more power over cold air intakes. But my theory is, the short air, if you plan on rippin alot will be sucking in hot air from the engine bay that the engine is ommitting, which is bad. But a cold air is sucking in fresh air from under the car. So, having a cold air that makes a few less hp will maintain its efficiency while a short ram will loose its efficiency due to it sucking in the warmer air from around the engine.
Anyone else have any opinions on what i just said?

haha.. hydrolocking is not as common as you think.

Anyway, Just a get a generic pipe, and put a K&N filter on there. If you want great sound, go for the AEM V2.

- Air Intakes create a nice sound.
- Intakes create minimal power gains if some at all. Sometimes even power loss.

The only reason I say the v2, cause its so freakin' loud, and nice sounding. Otherwise, just get the generic pipe.

the piping heats up on the cais also and you end up drawing in warm-hot air as well. both gains are pretty much the same. is it worth blowing 300 bucks on an aem intake and have the same gains as an SRI at about a lil more than a third of the cost? you still have to be cautious of big puddles on rainy days with cais don't you? i dont know about you but i certainly wouldn't risk it. you get like what 4-5hp gain tops?! you won't feel it man. you'll kick yourself for spending 3 bills for an intake you can't feel. why don't you just get the j's racing whale ***** intake.

edit: forgot to mention that i heard weapon R is a good choice for a intake.

i had a CAI on for over a year and even drove through some pretty deep puddles and never had a problem. I even used it during the winter.
But yeah, $300 for an intake?!?!?!?

i was on another site(maxbimmer) and i asked a question and all i got was 1 or 2 respnses in like a month!!!

i used to deal with ken over at max motorsports on dixie(mississauga) but he has gotten so expensive!!

anyways guy's , thanks for the reponse's and keep em coming, and if anyone has any other info on boost'n my cars performance let moi know!!!!!!

dude, don't spend 450 on an intake. you're going to kick yourself later on. as for differences i think it's all mental. the only difference i felt was it breathed a lot better top end and had more of a throttle response. for 450 you might as well as get yourself a cf sri from passwordjdm.
