Installing Rad....

Installing Rad....

k guys, i know this is silly but i really havent delt with a rad as of yet...

any tips i should know before taking it out and putting it in??

i do know what im doing but im not sure if there is any tricks or things not to do...

any suggestions would be good before i take'r out tommorrow

dont lose the rubbers at the bottom of the rad buy a new cap if it doesnt come with on and change thermostat if not already done.
stick a hose inside the passage and flush it out.

rads are super simple...I did one basically on the side of the road...its pretty basic, just make sure to bleed all the air out of the system when u are done

its also an automatic car, which i heard was a little more tricky because of the tranny...??? not too sure but this is what i have heard???

u have to get the air out of the system...run the car with the rad cap off...as the air works its way out of the system and add more coolant as the air comes out...otherwise you can end up with an air pocket which will cause overheating

yup and they have bleeder screws on the thermostat housing which should be opened when filling the system, its full when bubble free coolant comes out.

then run car with cap off and add more fluid as needed

auto cars have a built in tranny cooler, so you gotta drain that fluid as well as the rad fluid, then refill both! and bleed the cooling system. on a 93 Si the bleeder nipple to let the air out is on top of the upper rad hose on the block side, you'll see it, it's a 12 mm nipple looking nut.

i got it in, only took me like 2 hrs.... runs great no problems, thanks for all the tips
