INSTALLING Exhaust. (clamp instead of weld)?
hi, I recently purchased a performance exhaust super cheap. however, the exhaust has no hangers or piping, it's just the exhaust itself. the seller told me to bring to muffler shop and get it welded on, however, the muffler cost me only 50 bux (obx racing bomb exhaust). but the installation .. they want 120$ !!!!! I was wondering if I didn't weld, issit possible that there possible clamps I can buy? or other method. Because it's quite frustrating that these stores ask for so much to install.
Thanks guys, any feed back is good feed back.
suggestions... ideas.. methods.. DIY's .. anything.. even know of cheap place in GTA. (for honda civic 99 si coupe).

Quick Muffler Shop - http://quickmuffler.com/
located near Dufferin and Lawrence.
Very good service, and very fast too. All they do is exhaust work and they're very good at it. They did my carsound hi flow cat, welded it shut both sides in less than 20 minutes and it's flawless.
labour was $50. If you need bigger diamater mid-piping they've got tons.

As long as your piping is ok they are just going to cut off your old muffler and weld the new muffler on in the same place. $120 for labour is too much. Now if your piping is all rusted and messed up you'll need to replace it, in which case $120 ain't too bad for a section of mandrel bent piping and labour.

WELD!!!
Spend the money and weld it on properly. In the past, me and father were really cheap, when the muffler went on my father's cars, we just cut it off, bought a new one and clamped it on, and did the same thing year after year because right where the clamp was, the pipe would be rusting bad!!! Unless you store your car in the winter, I recommend you weld it on, it costs more but last forever

I agree with what has been said. Spend the cash and get it welded on properly. If you want to shop around for prices, you might want to check out auto express & muffler shop on Warden Ave. in Scarborough. They are at (416) 293-5518.
