Installing D15. Missing sensor above coolant line found on y8?

I'm in the process of installing the D15 in to my 96' in place of the y8. On the y8, the knock sensor (single wire sensor with a blue connector located above the coolant line) just above the oil pressure sensor in the back of the block that isn't found in the D15 block. Any idea how to fix this problem? Anyone encountered this problem??

Thanks

knock sensor, depending on what ecu you are using you might not have to use it (if you're using the stock ecu you will have to do something about that).

I think it's sitting above the knock sensor. It's a single wire sesnor with a blue connestor on the sensor. I'm thinking it might be a secondary knock sensor....

I did plan on using the stock ecu. How will this be a problem? I'm guessing I might need to look for a OBD1 comp, or at least a conversion harness.....

the knock sensor is the single wire sensor located above the coolant neck where the head meets the block (green plug i believe). The other 1 wire sensor (beside the oil filter) is the oil pressure sensor, definately need that one.
The stock obd2a d16y8 ecu will look for the knock sensor, and you will most likely get a check engine light if its not hooked up, i believe vtec won't work without the knock sensor being hooked up either.
You could convert to obd1 and run a chipped p28 with the knock sensor disabled, sort of expensive (PM me for more info) just to eliminate the knock sensor though.

Talking with my mechanic here and it looks like the sensor on the y8 fits into a blind hole. We're thinking of threading one of the blind holes in the block and seeing if it can get stuck in there. All it does is sense the knocking right? And since in sat in a blind hole anyways, this might work? (...crossing my fingers....)

if you can find a hole to get the right sized thread into that should work just fine, just make sure the knock sensor is seated in there good.
