installing bov on mr2?

how hard is it too install a bov on my mr2? any links with pics or details is good thanks

its very easy.

All you have to do is either weld the BOV right onto the charge pipe, or weld a flange onto the charge pipe and bolt the BOV to the flange. Then hook up the vacuum line to the intake manifold (or other apropriate vacuum source).....provided the car isn't already equipped with a BOV or recirculation valve like its sometimes called.

i was told the stock blow of vavle re-vents too the intake if that makes any sence?

zeeman 28-Jun-2007 11:05 PM

thats why they're sometimes referred to as recirculation valves...b/c the air/pressure it lets out, it routes back into the pipe before the turbo, recirculating the air.

soo if my car already has the stock "recirculation valve" is there somthing else i have too do besides weld a spot for the new bov and run the vacuum line?

i would imagine the easiest solution would be to replace the stock bov with an after market one if that is what you are after. you would run the vacuum line off the oem bov to the replacement unit and let it vent to atmosphere. i'm not sure what the mounting looks like, if it is just a flange then just bolt on a different bov with the same flange pattern... if it is some weird bov that is part of the piping or something, then you could replace that section of charge piping with a fabricated one with a new bov mounted onto it. i have seen the toyota intercoolers that are top mounted (over the engine) with a bov flange welded onto the pipe section of the end tank.

pics would help a lot.

pics would help me too haha i see the charge pipe but theres no stock bov that i see...soo odd i dont know...but if im really quiet between shifts i can hear it...il run out and take some pics right now of the engine bay...be up in about 10 mins or less check back

or if i take off the one tube that vents too the air box would that make it sound louder? rather then buying an after market bov??

imported_CRXXX 29-Jun-2007 01:43 PM

anyone??? hello?

zeeman 29-Jun-2007 02:03 PM

you'd probably have more luck on a toyota (MR2) forum....this forum is for hondas....so i doubt too many people know about MR2's.
