Individual Throttle Bodies question

Hey guys, my cousin has an acura rsx type s stage 2 turbo kit and is thinking about getting itb's but he would not know how to tune it because is it true that if you get itbs you need to constantly tune? Or can you just tune once or twice a year? And does anyone tune around here for itbs? Also is there a point on spending over 2grand american just for itbs, ALL comments welcome, thanks guys!

from my understanding the biggest problem with individual throttle bodies is the constant tuning which makes it a pain for an eveyday driven type vehicle

not sure if you have to keep on tuning.. im sure your answer is out there if you search honda-tech or some N/A sites.

One thing is for sure though.. under 4-5k it would suck ass.. itb's aren't efficient in low to mid range. It would be stupid to do it to a daily driven car.

bunch of links

Its on a d16 site.. but there are some good links there

Consult Tony_the_tiger, he built and tuned his own turbo ITB GSR and that thing revs like there is no tomorrow.

*hopefully, he doesn't mind people passing around his information/accompolishment*

there's a turbo'd ITB k20 as well on H-T somewhere. i don't see how that works though.

ITB helps the spooling, I believe. I think everything is the same as regular turbo, and you put a plenum over the trumpets and it connects to the charge pipe.

To me, turbo ITB is sorta the same as twincharger. VW Concept A comes to mind.

It alright, I think I pretty much talked my cousin out of it...itb is really complicated stuff and for a daily driven car I just dont think it would be right..thanks guys!

spend that money and build the block to handle more boost!!

Nova_Dust 16-Aug-2006 05:04 PM

Unless you don't drive the car in winter, cause you might need adjustment with throttle plate during winter time cause of the cold weather. So I was told.

Would be better off with a ported intake manifold or tell him to look into the IPS Intake manifold ;)

itb's on a boosted car... just like the so many jdm skylines that have this setup. apparently it provides a more crisp throttle response. i don't think it is all that nescassary for a daily driven rsx though.

itb's are weak sauce, i plan to make some throttle barrels some day. no restrictions, 100% flow baby!

well seeing how people have gone sub 9's on normal intakes I believe itb turbo setup is a waste of money.

dude if you want more power just turn the boost up throw a k24 block on there get a k pro I could think of so many better upgrades

not to mention itb's are only really good for a all motor car that has huge cams 2.0 litre + and revs to 9500 + rpm's cause they will shine in the high rpms

even then there are a waste unless you want to say you have itbs
