i wanted to know if a usdm 89 teg motor will bolt into a ef ive heard all along that it cant but then i heard some people saying that it would so im so confused cause i want a DOHC motor but dont wanna spend alot i could get my hands on a 89 teg motor for dirt cheap and wanna know if it is at all possible

im sorry i tryed searching but came up with nothin

im guess bbarbulo is gonna have my answers cause he seams to be the d series guru

well with the proper mount kit it will "bolt right in"
As for wiring, if your car is already MPFI then it will plug right in seeing as both the car and the new engine are obd0. But if you have a DX and its DPFI then you first have to convert to MPFI, which is only really 6 wires or so.
I'd say go for it. Since you can get a b18a1 for pretty cheap now a days, it would totally be worth it.

ohhhh riiiight. Its the ZC isn't it? Well either way. You can seriously get a b18a1 swap for like $500. Then all you would need is a mount kit and shift linkage (or customized integra linkage)
So you car is currently Multi Point Fuel Injected? Does it have 4 fuel injectors in the intake manifold? Or just two in the throttle body?

then get a d16z6 (92-95 si), a whole swap can be had for dirt cheap, plus IMO its the best of the d-series.

ingtegra should be be a lot like a regular JDM ZC engine, so yeah, it should bolt in like any d-series would.

I say try it and find out!! most ppl don't do this kinda stuff, cuz it's kinda a waste of time... like Accord single cam F20 engines in Civics... and so on... though even that has been done before.

aren't those integras the ones with the brown top ZC, which I think I have heard shares most of the parts with the more common black top one, but uses different mounting points or something.....why not just get a 88-91 JDM ZC blacktop?...

yeah, i've heard that the integra ZC's mount too close to the firewall and won't work too. Its something about the timing belt side mount being too far on the firewall side, while the JDM ZC's are closer to the bumper.

you can relocate your engine mount to mount like the integras if you really wanted to to place the engine properly. prolly some cutting/welding involved. but for the cost/hassle... it makes more sense to swap a D16Z6 in there.

I like this idea the best or just a zc. If you are on a budget these are probably pretty good.

I have a crx and decided to go z6 rather than zc. Simply for the parts availabilty in canada. Im not a fan of mixing and matching (zc). Z6 you know you can walk into a dealership or find parts for it cheap on the boards. With all the motors you've had had. Even selling them for dirt cheap you wouldve had enough $$$ to put into any one of the motors to make decent power.

My z6 Ijust happend to get lucky with its build & all of the parts.
ALL MOTOR baby. Its not gonna be the fastest but it'll be enough to make me happy. Yes I know Bseries would be faster & I may get bored BUT for me its perfect I have better places to spend my money!

89 teg motor "brown top" wil NOT bolt into any civic cause it has different mounts PERIOD not to mention only 114 hp so a SOHC zc is pretty much there.

I'm not sure if this helps or not, since this an 84-7 Civic ZC swap.
Maybe you'll find something useful:
