I got AGXs. They work just fine for me. However, if I were to buy new shocks I dont think i would go with the AGXs again simply because I want to experiment, not because I think they're bad.

i've heard good stuff and bad stuff on both products...
i'm on agx right now... its not as good as those kyb enthusiasts has described, but its not bad IMO.... i've never tried illuminas, but i've seen extremely positive reviews about it... (that might be the choice i'll go for when i get springs to replace the coilovers after this winter)... however, a mech i know who does my car stuff, he said in his experience and opinion, he wouldn't go for the tokico stuff at all.... you should try them and judge them yourself

You're thinking about GR2's. The AGX is a pretty good shock. Talking from personal experience though, I'd go with Illumina's.

If you're planning to go 2" you might wanna read the fine print where it says kyb shocks don't cover > 1.5" drops under warranty

AGX used to be way better value for the money. But the Illumina is a much better shock... now that the price of Illuminas has dropped, the Illumina is now FAR better value for the money.

I bought the Tokico Illumina Kit.
Awesome is my words to describe them.

The kit comes with 4 Illumina Shocks and 4 Tokico lowering springs.

On my 91 hatch, it sits perfect with 1 finger gap on front and 2 finger gap on the rear.

Plus this kit has a lifetime warranty since I'm using their own lowering springs.

The dampening on the four corners are set to "4" which is really stiff but rides well with the springs.

I got this kit a year ago for $944 taxes in.

Awesome deal IMO. You might even be able to get it cheaper now.

You should be able to find them cheaper than that now.
Last i saw some group buys going for 600 a set of the shocks.
And i know for sure you can find springs for under 300.

Putting inmy vote in for the Illumina shocks, 40K with Zero problems at around a 2" drop, yet maintains smoothish ride with a decent range of adjustability.

If there is no group buy going on, be sure to check ebay.
I found mine for under $600 CDN shipped over 2 years ago.
Good luck

I work for a shop and sell both products. Tokico we have had problems warrenting them where KYB we have not. I run the KYB AGX on my 91 civic dropped at 2.5" never had a problem.
