How much power will an ignition system (i.e. msd sci) make on a basically stock d16y7 (just intake and exhaust) and is it worth it? I've read some magazines that say this will increase hp+torque by about 5 each on a d16z6(I think), but I was wondering if the $400 for an ignition system is actually worth it or should I just swap my head to a vtec for a little more? I wanna keep things cheap since I'm a student.

it may smooth out idle, and return LOST power, but when compared to a brand new off the line car, it will make NO POWER!

yah its more of a compliment to more sophisticated setups like turbo nitrous, or high compression N/A... Save your dough and do a complete tuneup, then with the leftover money buy some beer and cigerettes.

Unless your gonna turbo that d16y7 or spray it, theres no sence wasteing money on it ...it has next to no potential as an N/A setup without rebuilding it. Enjoy its great gas milage!

I happen to have an Msd SCI, got it as part of a deal with some other stuff. I have a D16Z6 with headers, exhaust, intake, Fuel pressure regulator, adjustable timing.. would it be worth it to use it? I don't know what I'm gonna do in the future with the car, but since I have it....

IF I do sell it, what should I expect to get for it? I've been kicking this thought around for a while, and I'd apreciate some input, tnx.
