ignition problem 88 civic no spark
I am trying to help out a friend of mine with his 88 civic. it is getting no spark when the motor is turned over.
so far I have tested the coil and it shows to be good. I checked for power getting to the ignitor and it gets power on the 2 wires it says to test.
the manual also says to check for continuity between white wire and ground. and a blue wire and ground. both that run to the ignitor.
when I use an ohm meter it does not show continunity on either wire.
He also said that the tach stoped working befor the engine died.
I had a similar problem on my 90 integra, replaced the coil, ignitor and finally had to replace the whole distributor and that fixed it.
just looking for some insight or other things i can check befor i tell my friend to waste money on parts he might not need.
thanks,
James
