Ignition/key Problem

Hey guyz,

It been occuring more and more frequently.......everytime I attempt to remove my key from the ignition it gets STUCK. Stuck, as in the key won't fully turn to the LOCK positon (l) or, the positoin it needs to be in to be removed..instead it stays at the Accessory Position(i think).....everything is in place...shift is on parking mode and brake is in place.....

I have a feelin it has something to do with the shift, cuz everytime i play around with it (constantly switching from park to drive) the ignition would eventually allow the key to be removed...

can somebody help me out!!!

Thanks in advance

its automatic? yea...its the park switch thing in the shifter console area...nuff auto hondas have this problem, especially when it gets cold out...the light on the dash for P has to be illuminated signifying that its in park before u can remove the key...I'm sure there is a switch in the shifter that controls this...

its strange that when the shift is positioned at P..the dash recognizes P and its illuminated yet at the same time it displays d4 as well

I'm not sure if the Civics are the same. My aunt's old Accord had this problem. Remove the console around shifter and there may be a set of contacts or something on the side. Can't cleary remember, it was 3 yrs ago. You can spray it with some contact cleaner, that should help. Hopefuly the Civic is somewhat similar.
