idle speed and how to adjust it

hi... i'm a noob to manual (but i'm enjoying it even i still stall time to time)

what is the normal idle rpm? mine is at 500.... is that right?
i read in the haynes manual that for d15z1 engine is 600 +/- 50 (what does that mean? 550-650 range is correct???)

but is that the same for d16z6???
let me know if my idle is wrong and what is the correct idle rpm i should have....

then can anyone give me some step to step instructions to adjust my Idle rpm...

thanks!

500 rpm almost seems right

Are you taking your rpm reading from the tach in the cluster?

after i get first gear... the rest are easy and fine............
i even got my downshift technique and powershifting technique well already, but i still ain't getting my 1st gear nice....

any hints/tips/secret techniques?
let me know... thanks

The only real trick to driving stick shift is learning stop and go.

You have to release the clutch pedal while slightly pressing on the accel pedal at the same time.

Find an empty parking lot and go nuts.

do i release the clutch quick like i do in other gears? or do i release the clutch slowly while gently pressing on the gas?

i also heard some people do a rev first while the clutch is still pressed-in.... so the rpm jumps up then release the clutch and gently hit the gas..........
however, i don't quite understand how much i rev the rpm upto before i start to let go the clutch and then at which point i should hit the gas so the car dun SHAKE BACK AND FORTH like mad sex... haha

you dont jus rev then let go.. start reviving but at the same time let go of the clutch slowly.. but if you starting off.. you can jus revv it to 800 rpms slwoly let the clutch out and give it a bit more gas.. as you take off then your set

D16z6 Idle 700 +/- 50

To adjust idle you have to unplug the IACV so yur computer wont try and fix itself. Once you have that unplug you can adjust your idle. For the D16z6 the book says the idle should be 550 WITHOUT THE IACV plugged in. Once you adjust to your desired point turn off the car and plug back in the IACV and reset the computer. If you wanna know more you can PM me and i will get back to you tonight.
