idle issues

like stated, i got an idle issue
it happens when i put the car in nuetral when stopping. it will down down to normal (70+-) then immediatly got up anywhere in between 1200-1500rpms, then come down but usually around 900. it will not come down though until i have made a complete stop. also the rpms are a little higher at startup, still within normal.

ive cleaned the iacv, im almost certain theres no air bubbles in the coolant, flushed it when i changed my thermostat.
i have also tested other aicv's but the same problem persists. anybody have any other ideas?

vacuum leaks, hook up a gauge and check that it's within spec 17-20 hg-in STEADY. IF it fluctuates, you have a vacuum leak. Also, clean your dizzy cap and rotor, and see if that helps. Same thing happened to me, and I cleaned those two, and it went away, so I replaced them the week after for good measure.

sounds like you could have some engine gremlins... put a peanut butter sandwitch on your valve cover and smash those buggers with the tire iron when they come out.

QUESTION

what is your set up? Is it stock?

thats not the proper way to check a pcv valve. Bad ones can rattle too, the proper way to test a pcv is to pull it out while the motor is running and give it a quick shot of gas, if the plunger moves all the way in and out, the pcv valve is working properly.
