Identi-noise
Can someone please help me out?
I was driving along merrily the other day and then I started to hear a squeaking noise from the front left side of my car. It sounds kinda like metal lightly scraping along metal and it goes away when I step on the brake. It used to happen sporatically and would last for a couple kilometers but last night it happened all night long while I was driving (and I drove for a good 50 or 60km around the city). I think that it could be the brakes (brakes work perfectly fine, btw) but any guesses as to what it could be??
Good thing is that it's still quiet enough to be drowned out by the radio!
And no, there are no prizes for guessing correctly... considering the fact that I don't know the real answer!
Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Check to see if the little tab that tells you the brake pads are getting low is rubbing (the outside pad).
If it is, just bend the tab a ittle so it doesn't touch the rotor anymore.....just make sure that if it is touching, you get your brakes checked as soon as possible. The inside pad wears out faster than the outside....if you leave it too long before getting it fixed, be perpared to get NEW rotors as well. :working: (that's if they are not already gouged beyond the point that it can be machined).

Thanks for the tip!!
I didn't do that but assuming that it's my brakes that is the problem (after 60k, a brake check-up is in order anyways!) I made an appointment with my favourite friendly neighbourhood mechanic.

Yup! You were right!! Got my brakes checked out and the little tab was causing the squeaking.
Got my brakes serviced and no more annoying squeaking!!!!
