IAT(intake air temp.) problem.

i am going to be using an obd1 ecu on my obd2. My problem is.. my IAT is in my intake tube right before my TB on my obd2 d16.. and in obd1 d16's the IAT is in the intake manifold.

Now.. I heard I might have a problem with my idle since the temperatures will be slightly different and my ecu might be trying to compensate for the difference.

I also don't want to adjust it with the IAT compensation tables.. because then i will have to go back to a tuner.

So my question is.. will my idle really be rough? Or will it be the same? I would imagine it would be somewhat the same since the differences in temps is minimal.. but I want the opinions of tcc.

EDIT: also. what do you guys think would happen if I left it out completely. Say.. i just zip tied it somewhere out of the way. I have read of people doing this..

Your harness is OBD2, your engine is OBD2, right? Just run a harness converter with an OBD1 ECU and that should be fine, no?

Do I even make sense? :P

p06 ecu.. converted for vtec tuned with uberdata.

I will be getting a obd1-obd2 conv. harness. Yes. But I don't believe that will eliminate my problem Charles. The ecu was tuned for a obd1 engine.

I might re-tune it (it will only be around $60 since it has a baseline). But I want to avoid that for the first month or so.

anybody have any ideas?

It will be fine..

We recently put a obd2 IM on my friends obd1 car Y8 mani on Z6 motor.. and we had to move his IAT into his intake tube.

Oh yeah.. Uberdata is old and outdated and dosent have all the new options.

Try crome or neptune

you cant zip tie it out of the way. just leave it where it is, a few degrees wont make that much of a diff. if its THAT rough of an idle then tune it.

okay, i figured it wouldn't be that much of a difference.
