Hey guys

I have a b16 with Cat cam stg 2 cams, tuned ecu, cam gears, and intake.
I am getting between 300-400 kms on a tank of Sunoco 91.
I've had other DOHC engines before but I usually got the same mileage out of every fill.
This week I got just over 300, but 2 weeks ago I got just over 400! my driving style doesn't change much. Thats just an example, I knwo the temps outside have changed a lot but this has been on going since January.
I am pretty consistant with my driving and warming my car up.
I do not have a fuel leak.

The only thing I can think of is that when my ECU was tuned all they did was basically throw my fuel into the engine.

anyone have a clue?
(and Chris dont suggest the o2 sensor lol)

def 02 sensor!

maybe leaky injector? fuel filter, bad allignment?

who did the ecu?? what was it chipped with??..... tuned how??..

well if the car was dyno tuned its likely only the WOT portions of the fuel maps were tuned.
If it was street tuned, i'd be questioning the tune.
My built b16 (very similar to yours) gets over 400kms to a tank, every tank....but i've got hours and hours and hours of real time tuning on my car, obviously b/c i do tuning myself.
But other b16s i've tuned get better mileage than yours.

When was the last time you did a tune up? (spark plugs and wires, dizzy cap and rotor, pcv valve, fuel filter, air filter, ignition timing check, valve adjustment).

I can check out the program you've got on the chip in your ecu for you, and compare it to a stock b16 program if you feel like making a trip out to hamilton to come see me.

The tune up was done when I got the engine swap done... so probably jan, and I dont put much k on her either.
I asked him and he said he bought a chip and threw a type r program on it. When they installed my cams I watched them do the valve adjustment.
would I be better just throwing the p30 back in? and then bring it to you when I get time?

No it would be better to throw a wideband o2 in and get andrew to tune it (seriously) I'm not just saying that cause he's my friend.. i'm talking from personal experience and knowledge. No stock program is going to run properly with aftermarket cams in there

shouldnt you diagnose if its an o2 sensor problem first? pickme:

if its an o2 sensor problem, thats all the more reason to get the car street tuned...lol.
I disable the o2 sensor after tuning a car, a solidly tuned car will run just as good in open loop (no o2 sensor feedback) as a stock car in closed loop (ecu uses o2 sensor feedback). I've had my car and others running in open loop for a few years now.
In actuality, you can run the car a tad bit leaner with the o2 sensor disabled, which is nice for partial throttle and cruising to pull a little better gas mileage out of it, if you've got an EGT gauge you can really dial it in nicely (by adjusting the timing) for max fuel effeciency at partial throttle/cruise conditions.
Type R program isn't exactly what i'd start with, and i don't see how people can call using an ITR basemap a "tuned ecu".
But seriously, if you plan on tuning soon, don't waste money replacing the o2 sensor in an attempt to fix the problem.

thanks... I am going to talk to canspeed tuning here in Barrie and if he doesn't sound as knowledgable as you I guess I will be making a trip to Hamilton.
