I think i broke my driveshaft!! help!!

So im new to honda's, and I just got the 93eg6 4 days ago.
Tonight after a nice rip around the neighborhood, i did a burnout and all of a sudden, no more wheels spinning, just the engine revving. I ended up pushing my car home with a buddy and it was dragging a piece of metal(a round rod). the left side is intact, my camera just died and i dont have pics.

does anyone know how much this would cost to fix, like parts and labor wise?

Also, all this happend when my trip meter was at 666 and is continuing to run up, even though the car is not in gear, is this what happens when you break a drive shaft?

Help is appreciated.

Peter:cry:

look underneath... if you see the driveshaft completely snapped... well, you did a good job...

if you snap a shaft, your car wont move forward and the engine will still rev, but no power goes to the wheels...

a d-series driveshaft is prob only 60-80 rebuilt or 120-150 new tops i believe and an honest shop roughly an hour of labour...

right side is the shortest shaft and most of the power is transfered their. breaking a shaft itsnt to expensive. Most shops is 140 bucks including installation.

btw: A burnout could result in either an unnecessary noise ticket or carless driving charge.

All said and done your looking at $200 ish for the repair.

iother than oem there isin't much and the different makes just build them to oem spec... when you burn out your tires, power out of corners and just rip it hard overall you will break them. I broke one just after cayuga from burning oiut there all day. its expected because these driveshafts are not too beefy. i am sure the d series ones are not nearly as strong as the b-series ones, but regardless those motors make more torque so they need something a little stronger.

i personally just buy rebuilt ones for around $100 from ******* in scarborough... they used to be an affialate here, but the shafts are great IMO.

or you can buy custom axles of course that exceed oem specs and are designed for turbo cars or heavily built motors and they can take a beating and last much longer but you could easily throw down $500-$750 for a pair.

LOL....oh my....

If your axle broke while doing a burnout, bet those spider gears in the diff didn't know what the heck day it was after that! LOL

FWD + burnouts = broken parts....

Never heard of an axle poping out of the diff....don't even know if thats possible...

and Im sure you have never done a burnout , or ripped around.

Considering I just got the car less than a week ago, I wanted to have a little fun.

I have learned my lesson, and I wont do it agian.

I ended up getting it fixed, and a safty cert for $200.00 at a shop at ellesmere and markham.

they did it in ten minutes.

ok children take it easy.

only thing I'll say is don't use your car beyond what it was engineered to do. a car is for driving, not for burning rubber. so drive your car easy or drive your car hard.... but don't beat on it. it wasn't meant to do burnouts, reverse donuts, e-brake slides, and whatever other stupidity ppl have come up with. learn to have fun with your car within it's engineered limits.

Aren't most of us here to make our cars surpass the limits of what our cars were engineered to do?
