I need YOUR help in finishing my car (possibly $$ involved)

Hello,

My car is almost finished and just needs a ECU. I am wanting to get my P06 converted to P28 and at the same time want a program installed. My ECU is automatic also already.

Ummm I sent a email off to hyperducktuning.com and no reply yet but I was wondering about their RPT program...Are programs worth it? Does the program use its own fuel maps? Or does it just handle VTEC and redline options?

I was also wondering if anyone can do my ECU for me, I'll pay you to do it...

Here is the email I sent to hyper...Its a bit long, but you'll know my situation...

Title: I need YOUR help in finishing my car!

I was wondering if any of you could help me out. I am close to finishing my car. The only thing I need now is the ECU done. My swap consists of a clean and healthy JDM D15B engine running of an “automatic” DX tranny (USDM). Anyways, I need my stock P06 (non-VTEC ECU and its already a Auto) converted to VTEC and I want to get a program installed while the non-VTEC to VTEC conversion is done at the same time.

Now I have been looking at some of the street programs you offer and wanted to know what you can recommend. I have done the basic I/H/E and want a program that can add additional, yet can juice out a couple of last HP out of the engine. However, there is a limitation. I think the biggest factor will be fuel economy. I want an ECU program that will add some more power but at a small lost of fuel economy. If we compare the D16Z6 to the JDM D15B (cuz they are closely similar) I think they get something like 30+ MPG? 25MPG would be my preferable cut-off point. A program that could broaden the power band that would be effective on the street would be cool. The closest program, which seems good, is the RPT program (VTEC @ 4800RPM, and rev limit @ 7800RPM). Another questions are automatic trannies. When does VTEC kick in, in auto trannys? And I assume the rev limiter doesn’t really make much difference with autos.

Anyways, please get back to me ASAP. I basically want to get my money’s worth when doing the last thing; ECU. What’s the turn around time? And I live in Toronto. Is there someone that works for Hyperducktuning that can do it for me?

What final end price (with tax in) would I be looking at? To summarize I want...

1. Conversion of P06 to P28 (non-VTEC to VTEC)
2. A program (thinking RPT?) installed at the same time.

Thanks for reading such a long email.

----------------

Thanks and for all you ECU know'ers who can do it for me (and for a good price), hit me up PM

I'm not sure about this , but wouldn't it be easier to get a VTEC controller? Less headaches and all but probably cost more.

But you're engine is VTEC , wire up the vtec solenoid to a vtec controller and then set it up to activate on certain rpms.

Have You checked out WWW.PGMFI.ORG

If you havent...and if your interested in trying to do it yourself

You can find out all the necessary information on how to convert your ECU on that site in their library, such as instructions and parts required.

Its really not to hard to install the components if your willing to try, and you can get all the components you need at most electronic shops, there are three different shops in toronto that i know of, plus many online.

dont worry,

you can chip a p06 for vtec, and add the missing p28 hardware to enable your ecu to control vtec, why play with external hardware when your ecu can run it fine..

the chips & tuning from hyperduck is excellent.

LOL. How would I dyno tune it then loudsuz? I wanted a program to get some more power out of it...and then dyno it to see how much it gives...but how would I dyno tune it if I have nothing to tune it with? Yes I know I dont make sense but I dont think your dyno tune it makes sense either... LOL

don't fight with loudsubz... he'z been around a long time... he knows what he's talking about..........

i think dyno tuned is something like... you dyno it and look at the power band.... if there's some weak points, you can tune it again to have more power....

if you just chip your ecu first without knowing if its already at its max potential, then you go dyno it... you might need to go back and chip your ecu again...

i might be wrong for my explanation... but i'm also clear dyno tune makes sense

i think what 93civic is saying, is that he needs to have the ecu working properly and running the car properly so he could then go to a dyno if he likes.
vtec wired up with a proper ecu i think is what hes looking for. i can't offer any suggestions but i thought i would help clear it up as what you need.

Save yourself the hassle and spending most likely over $150+ for a chip, vtec controller and install.. Just buy a P28, it'll probably be cheaper! Especially a P28 AUTO ecu.

no matter what program they put in there you will NOT notice a power difference. IF you do notice a power difference, you'll probably be hallucinating.. Why you ask?

Your driving a 125-130HP engine, on an automatic transmission..
