I have an Oil Leak
Hey Guys... i need some help from those of you who are mechanically inclined. My car was a seriuos oil leaking around the cylinder head and the the rest of the block..i was driving it home tonight and i noticed smoke coming from under the hood...when popped it and removed the oil dip stick...the oil just blew out to my face in a sudden burst...i need someone to look at it and tell me what's up...i think it's the distributor seal/o-ring...but i'm not sure...it started around there as a very small leak. pm me if you could help

when you took the dip stick out was the car running?
Id hope not, otherwise where would all the crank/oil pressure be comming from?
did you put too much oil in the car at last changeup?

K well, you need to see where the smoke was ocming from.. you sure it's just not spill over from like filling oil or somehting onto your exhaust manifold ...
u notice a lot less oil between oil changes?

the smoke is coming from the oil going onto the exhaust manifold when it leaks...the oil change was done like a month and a half ago.i haven't noticed alot less oil in changes. I HAS TOLD THAT IT MIGHT BE THE VALVE COVER GASKET...

You should be able to pretty much tell where your oil is going.. do you see A LOT of oil coming out around the valve cover? if so, replace that seal. do you see alot coming out near the dizzy? if so, replace the ring. Basically clean out all the areas you think are leaking oil and then watch those areas.
