if you read on h-t, there has been a trend of n/a b18b's.... and there's been lots of success reaching unbelievable number of whp... check them out

i would go with zeemans suggestion. Iam persoanlly running a b20 with a gsr tranny, so far no problems the only thing that i really had to change up was the stock clutch all the tourqe that the b20 put out the stock clutch just didnt have enough bite.

only 165-170whp?
Thats a butt load over any d-series. And with 165whp in a civic it will be really fun to drive. If you don't beleive me, come for a ride in my car. You don't need 300whp to make a civic fun to drive.
Lots of torque is what makes civic fun to drive, especially around the city or on the highway. Thats why i recommended the b20 w/gsr tranny.

i was more than impressed when we put a b20b w/gsr tranny into my buddys EG hatch. It pulls like hell. No need to downshift with that much torque. Just put 'er to the floor and she goes.

personally I think anything about 250whp on a daily driven FWD civic is stupid. the 170-200whp is great for having fun with a DD

I do like the idea of a b20 with a GSR tranny.... b20s are definatly fun to drive because of thier TQ.... which is one of the reasons why I would take it over the LS.
plzbeleiveit.... you were saying that the stock GSR clutch has some problems grippig because of the TQ? did you replace it with an aftermarket one or did you just put a new one on?
Can you give me some more into on that?

B20B + I/H/E + light flywheel + 4.785FD + a good set of tires and a decent set of suspension will make a fun vehicle. Won't break your bank and you get to enjoy the 87 octane gas.

I was saying iam currently a gsr tans with a b20 and i had a stock clutch in but it wasn't strong enough for how much tourque the b20 was putting out ( 166 fp ) I replaced the clutch with an aftermarket competetion clutch and 7pound flywhell made a big difference.
i found with the stock clutch i was grinding at high rpms because the stock clutch just didnt have enough bite.

what kind of a b20 do you have? b20 B / b20 Z ?
I'm leaning towards the idea of a b20 & gsr transmission. Just wondering if you can give me some info on your mods and engine info if its cool.

b20b is what i use, i think the b20z is weak. Right now all i would suggest when buidling one is take it to a professional and get it done right once and only once. other wise your just screwing yourself over. these things have to be build right in order for them to preform good. Also b20s need to be tuned and getting them tuned makes the engine run alot more better and you unlock the tons of torque that it has to offer.
b20s are sweet nice quiet engines.

B20 with 4.785FD = 100km with 5th gear at 3500~3600RPM, so highway driving sucks, but local town driving is fun. I wouldn't worry too much about the revving issue.

how is the b20z weak? the b20z is better than the usdm b20b. the only difference between them is that the b20z has higher compression pistons so i don't see how that makes the motor weaker. however, in jdm land all b20s were badged b20b. there were a couple of b20s that were mated with a P8R head. it only came in a few cars for a couple of years so it's extremely rare but it's the best head out of all the non vtec heads. the intake valves on those heads are the same size as the vtec ones, 33mm as to the popular non vtec 31mm. now i don't know how much of a difference it makes because i've never seen any dyno comparisons.
