How to and When to clean short ram filter?

Anyone know how to or when /how often to clean a short ram filter? and also how hard is it to do the TB cleaning? What will I need for both applications? How often do you guys clean/change your filters?

50,000 kms in reg conditions... dirt in the filter aids in filtering capabilities w/o affecting flow. That is if it's a K&N... anything else... toss out and go buy a K&N. If it's a HKS foam filter, treat is like a lawnmower filter :D

T/B cleaning isn't that hard if you car remove your intake and buy TB cleaner :D Do NOT use CARB CLEANER under any circumstances unless it says it's t/b safe. There is a coating on it that gets fuct if you use regular carb clearer.

Is there a gasket on the bottom of the TB? If so, would you need to change it if you take the TB off to clean it?

And NO I can't leave it on cuz of my setup :D 'Tis baddddddd...very bad :nods: for me that is :p

Thanks B :D
No Swap here, just a pencil sharpener :p

Do you just scrape off the old crap?

bbarbulo 24-Jun-2003 06:37 PM

Get a gasket removal tool... basically a scraper :) There is also a solution you can use to aid the process... but just don't scratch the surface. Ya, I remember the pencil sharpener... but I wasn't sure on what surface it was mounted :)
