How To Tell IF You Have LSD
#2
Head out onto a quite road. Rev it up, dump the clutch. Spin spin spin.... look in rearview mirror...if you see two black lines you have an LSD...if you only see one you are still a peg leg and just got ripped off.
(You should actually be able to feel the difference when driving, but this is a lot harder to explain)

is it installed yet?
if not,
look through the hole where the axels plug into, you should be able to look right through it with an unobstructed view.... if you can, congrats! you have LSD!
if you look through the hole where the axels plug in, you will see what looks like a bar intersecting the hole, then you have a regular tranny.
if its installed.
jack up the car, and put the car into 1st gear.
Do both tires spin?
if so, you have LSD
if only 1 tire spins, you have a regular tranny.

My tranny is stamped "LSD" When i get home i can post the tranny code if that makes a dif.....its a D series LSD BTW. From what my friend told me, you should notice better acceleration and cornering....and apparently you can hear it engage...not too sure.
(i haven't installed mine yet)

I was actually being more sarcastic than anything... cause it kind of makes me laugh that someone goes out of their way to buy an LSD but has no idea whether or not that was actually accomplished.

I wasnt purchasing a lsd tranny in the first place (ok Happy???)....... I bought a regular tranny and was just wondering if maybe I got a little extra. I read a post a while ago about looking through where the axles fit into the tranny i just couldnt remember which way it went. I mean if you see the bar or if you do not see the bar.

well if that trick with jacking up the car and putting it into 1st gear and checking if both tires spin works......then I too have LSD, cuz mine does that, but that's weird cuz I have a stock d16z6 tranny.....93 si coupe. I can also lay a double patch on takeoff.

SIK_Si, they would have to both spin in...ummm same direction if I remember correctly. Either same or opposite directions.... let me put it this way... whatever yours does, it's the other one cuz you don't have LSD
