jus wanted to know how easy it would be to drop out an engine and tranny out of a car?

also wat things do u need to remove from the engine before dropping it?

also do you drop both engines and tranny out at the same time or what?

if your asking these questions I suggest you get a shop to do this for you, or at least grab a helms manual.

Get a Honda manual or helms manual... and look over the engine removal process... I've found the most frustrating part of doing any kind of job is not having the right tools... The job itself isnt impossible; it's having the wrong tools that can make it a bitch and SEEM difficult. good luck.

btw.. air tools are yummy.

i know where we can do it...do you have another engine and tranny? if you do i can do it for you on my day off but it will take a phuckin long time like more than 8 hours striahgt....make sure you have everything too...if your swapping the tranny from auto to 5spd....i will have to check your computer i remember someone saying reverse lights wont come on you have to do rewiring...i dunno bout that part but everything else i can do as long as there are no relocating the mounts.........actually just take it to a shop.

That doesn't sound right to me.. but everyone is different I guess.

If you take it to a shop, don't fall for any 8 to 12 hours worth of labour bullshit and don't go anywhere that charges flat rate... If anything, taking out the engine WITH tranny attached is easier (i find anyways). Its not a lot of hard labour taking it out... the majority of the work is just disconnecting wires and hoses. Taking it out shouldn't take a shop no more than an hour and a half TOPS.

Ok this is not 8 hrs by any stretch....

Jay,

1. jack car up
2. Remove the axles (both sides)
3. Unbolt the exhaust (header)
4. Unhook every bastard hose/sensor in the engine bay
5. Jack up motor
6. Unbolt the mounts
7. Remove the engine and tranny at the same time.

That is all that essentially needs to happen (If I remember correctly)

The engine with the tranny can be removed without a cherry picker but you prolly need 4 guys with decent strength.

You got an engine yet? You know I have mine for sale.

this is by myself not using an engine hoist or anything to lower the tranny...this is using a bunch of chains at my old high school garage lol

You don't need an engine hoist you are pulling it out all at once. However, you will need some people to pull everything out

They have these things... ummm... YES... manuals, like Chilton, Haynes, Helms... that have step by step instructions. So go spend $17 on a Chilton instead of asking 2500 people to type up instructions for you. Besides, it's got pics, do's and don'ts...wiring diagrams, procedures... and 100% of it will be TRUE... no misdirection. Best $17 you'll ever spend on your car.

Well, it really does have awesome instructions... it'd take an hour to type up good instructions on how to do it, and it'd still fall short of what a Chilton would contain, ya know? Didn't mean to be a dick about it... Plus, when you start doing it, it's really quite easy. If I were doing a swap, I'd plan for like 3-4 weeks for it. You'll run into stuff that won't budge, or you'll need special tools, or whatever... be safe and try to plan well ahead if you wanna do it quickly, but even then isht can go wrong.
