how much would a new tranny cost?

for a manual 96 honda civic???

does the V-Tec engine have a different tranny?

The housings are the same, but the gear ratios should be different for SI,DX.

what would be the price for a tranny swap! labour and new tranny?

You want a brand new one from Honda or a good condition used one?

Y7 tranny has 3.9 or 4 something final drive and Y8 (Si) has 4.25 FD or there about. Basically, Si will accelerate a ted faster than Y7.

An used Y8 could be around 300 plus minus, Y7 will be lower. Just a guideline.

if you buy a tranny privately.. it can range from anywhere from $100-$300.

But you risk buying a crappy tranny. I would go to an engine shop and check out their prices.

or try rebuilding yours if the tranny is not completely f*ck up?
is that an option?
