How Long Will Battery Last Without Alternator?
 

ok so what happend was the 2 main wheels hooked to the crank shaft broke off/fell off i guess the shop that did my timming belt over tightend it or didnt tighten them enuff, so all 3 belts came off (A/C, power steering and alternator) i need a new main wheel 2 put all 3 belts back, so i need to drive my car to the shop from my house...car starts and running battery is fully charged and ready to go, what i want to know is how long will the battery last before the car dies out?

i need to go for about 8km's or less!

ahaha i had this problem like a month and a half ago my alternator went let ur car battery charge over night and u can get probably 20-30 kms before ur car dies the first time guranteed i made it from 9th line and 16th ave to markham and eglinton then went to town center and it started to die as i was pulling into towncenter and u feel it start to lose power ull noe right away soon as its changing so if ur going 8km u got NOTHING to worry about

and im an iddiot it died on me the day before....my battery light went on and i thought it was the battery so i was stranded that day and got y cousin to pick me up after i waited in my car for 4 hours in the hot sun and we went to canadian tire i put it in on the side of the road and it died again and it turned out ot be the alternator

yah well for me its not a carp roblem, alternator is fine everything is good all belts etc, they just didnt tighten properly so everything poped out...thanks for the info hopefully ican make it, lol my battery is charging right now till later tonight or tomorrow morning so ill c how it goes lol

umm your timing belt falling off can be very serious... hopeful no damage. but yeah I drove to about 50 km with out an alternator...I suggest bringing a set of cables or a self boosting thing.

you can drive pretty far with out an alt.. keep everything off..

if you can, push start it, it'll save more battery.

timming belt is fine, only ac, power steering and alternator belts came off and the belts wheels

the wheels your talking about are called pullies. or in this case the harmonic balancer. you should prolly get the new one and put it on in your driveway. pull the driver side wheel off and pull back the splash guard. if they overtightend it, they fcuked your motor cuz the threads will be stripped or the bolt is broken off inside. you might be able to remove it with an easy out but good luck. if they didn't tighten it enough then your gonna need the pully, bolt, washer and the key way.

how would they have ****ed my motor? the pulley wheel or w/e is stripped in the middle where it holds in, bolt is nowhere to be seen, lost it somewhere on road i guess....as for it being stripped inside i have no idea.....

and assuming someone tightened something on ur car and sooudning like they noe everything eh ol Dusty?

and pull out the day time running light fuse. don't run the fan or radio!
