how long do springs last?
 

i've done a search and couldnt come up with the answer sorry.

i want to know how long springs will last approx?
less than 5 yrs? 5-10 yrs? 10 - 20 yrs? 20+? ...

im particularly looking at neuspeed for my 05 sedan, 1.7F 1.5R.


also.. can tokico blue hp handle this drop? is it lifetime warranty with this drop (i heard that its warrantied lifetime for drops under 1.5")?

The Tokico struts for your car will need to be modified to fit, thus voiding your warranty. I think Tokico only makes struts for the 01-02 Civic.

Its hard to say how long springs last. It would probably depend on how they were used (daily driver, auto-x). The H&R springs I just removed from my car were over 2 years old with almost 60,000k's and they still rode great and the drop was not sagging.

cool. and it sucks to hear that about the shocks.

are there any shocks that will fit my car without modification?
again, i dont need a crazy drop, just about an inch and a half or so all around.

Neuspeed are made by Eibach. Eibach are less expensive unless you want to pay more for a name.

only problem with that is that eibach doesnt make special springs for the sedan.

if i use coupe springs or springs not specifically made for a sedan, the rear will sag because the rear of the sedan weighs quite a bit more than the coupe.

how does the rear of a coupe weight so much less, both sedan and coupe only have same parts except sedan has the rear doors, but coupe has larger doors. dosen't make sense when you think about what is in the very back of a sedan and coupe, in anything, i think this rumour started cause of someone who had a big sound system that sagged the rear lower with all that weight. i think the rear sagging on sedan is a myth because of sound system, which if i had a sound system, i'd go coils to keep it level anyways.

i have H&R sports in my ride now and supposedly the ass will sag in my EL....never has and is still ass alittle higher then the front like it should be with 0.25" higher ride height.

i'm not concerned with length springs last, if they wear out in 5-10 years, i'd just replace em anyways, but my guess is a quality spring (meaning no ebay junk that is $10) will last 5-10 years no prob

For whatever reason, most spring manufacturers make different springs for the 7th Gen coupe and sedan. H&R doesn't even make a sedan application. There must be some difference in the two cars.

in the 7th gens for some reason the rear of the sedan weighs significantly more than the coupe. i dont think its like this for other civics because they do not have springs specifically designed for coupes/sedans.

I have EIbach on my sedan that are for the coupe.. Its sagging a bit lower then the front, but again I have a dual 12" box and amp + Spare tire in the back. I'm sure if I took that stuff out it would be almost level.

a lot of springs sag in the rear from having a lot of people in the back and also the weight of a very powerful system can make the rear sag

In terms of your question about how long springs last, I was looking at them on the teknotik website the other day and it said that Eibachs come with a 1 000 000 mile warranty. That is a really long warranty, but it doesn't specify the time length. Tein does specificy the length of time and its only a 1 year limited warranty.

actually i read the civic weights the civic sedan weighs less than the coupe by like 35 pounds

OEM or aftermarket springs?

my OEM honda front springs are garbage and cracked already. Its a 97. Ive seen a couple diff preludes with cracked front springs.

springs theoretically last forever, but in terms of usefullness I'd say after 10 years they're done.
