How to insert the upper control arm bushings (es ones)

Specially for rick, as I remember him having trouble..

All Charles and I did was lube up the bushing good, then he placed it at the start of the hole, then i put a piece of wood over the other side of the UCA and stood on it and wiggled a bit and it slid in no problem, it was real hard because it has a taper at the end.

also standing on those things they will bend (very slightly but they will) which will throw off your alignment very slightly.,... which will result is being slighty annoyed with the alignment and lots of time spent trying to get it right....

Mine went in with a vice... it was like squeezing an elephant through a keyhole tho

The trick is to put the eurethane in first, then slide in the metal insert after (also useing the vice)

this allowes the es bushing to collaps a tiny bit on the way in, and you have to be super precice on the centering of the bushing into the sleeve... I also used a block of wood on the urethan side of the vice to allow equal distribustion of the the vices force...

first one was a bitch, then the rest were easy once i got the hang of it... I can to them in seconds now...

once you tighten those bolts, the a arm should square up again...but yah its better not to bend them lol

No, these did not bend, as the way we had it set up, pressure was only being applied to the other side of the OEM ring, while the Es bushing was on the ground being pushed in, nothing was being put under stress.

I was installing the ES bushing on my car, the 6th gen. It wasn't Matt's car.

We didn't stand on the opposite side of the upper arm. It is like the diagram shows. Apply force evenly on each side of the wood and let the arm slowly sits into the bushing. The lub is very sticky and it will grease up really well.

We didn't have time to do the passenger side due to time. But the alighment was fine last night when I drove home via highway.
