how hard is it to change power steering boot

how hard is it to change power steering boot?

My boot on the passenger's side is torn. Will I only have to seperate the tie-rod and ball joint, and then slip it off over that. Is the small seal attached to the "tie rod lock washer" or "rach end bushing" hard to remove? Will I have to get the steering aligned again?

Its getting cold outside and I'm thinking of simply taking this to the dealer... But, I'm guessing that (from the pdf file) the passenger side is easier than the drivers side.

Also, the manual doesn't show it, but I swear I saw a little hose coming off of the top of the boot? Is this right? Or is it next to the boot?

I did the cv boot once and really found one side to be easy, and the other side to be hard. (I recall each axle only has one cv joint that can actually be opened, thereby making one have to slide it all off on that opened side...)

It's not hard, just a pain in the ****, and YES you will need an alignment after that. There are no hoses coming FROM the boots themselves. Seeing how cold it is, I would honestly just dust tape a bag over it to keep it sealed for the winter, and then redo the whole rack and rack busnings come spring.
