Question How Good are ROTA wheels?

Hey Guys!
I am thinking of getting some ROTA wheels for my '99 SIR.
Now, I know these wheels are very popular among us civic owners, therefore I would like to ask you, people that have ROTA wheels, HOW SATISFIED ARE YOU with these wheels? I know they are really light, but how does that compare to their durability?
Also, I won't go track with these. My car is my daily driver so you know how our roads are!
Are they worth the price, and what are some of the prices for these?

Thanks!

I am thinking ROTA Circuit 10 in silver bronze, in particular for my car. Any other suggestions?

For that price, hell ya they are worth it. But I believe they are cast not forged? If you just gonna run these rims for the looks and whatnot, ya they will work. Some track racers use Rota wheels and get sponsored from Rota.

When you're buying rims there's a choice involved.

Cheap, Light, Strong : Pick two

Rota's are cheap and light but taking the small amount of metal and casting it instead of forging it means that they aren't as strong as real race wheels and if you hit the right pothole at the right speed you will bend a rim. If you watch out though it shouldn't be a problem since it would still take a pretty big bang to warp them.

They're cheap, light, and strong. Potholes don't care how much you spend on wheels. Hit it just right, and you'll bend anything. With that being said, mine sustained many potholes and abuse and held up very well. Two of them got slightly bent only after a track incident. The impact and trajectory was quite severe.

As posted above, almost any rim will bend or warp if u hit the right pothole. I have 17" rota subzero's and I have no complaints at with the rims warping.

For the price its really hard to beat the selection, colors and quality that ROTA rims offer.

Check out the GB section for some ideas on pricing.

they are good enough for the money. Try to find another rims that looks good, is as light, and as cheap as a Rota, and the line will form to the left :P

OK,
I have been looking on the internet and a set of 4 wheels are being sold for about 450-500$ US shipped anywhere in the US
Now thats about 670$ CDN shipped in the states....so shipping them to an addtess in michigan and picking them up for about that much would be a good deal?
I see here, they are going for 850$ cdn.

Wasn't SIR_YO selling a couple sets for 700 bucks? If those are the ones you want, then jump on that deal.

Unless you live close to the boarder, driving from TO to MI and back for 4 rims that cost less than a grand isn't worth the time and gas.

Strong is a relative term. I wasn't saying that they are made of tinfoil but ROTA's are not strong compared with forged wheels. If you want to make a wheel out of 9 lbs of metal just pouring it into a cast will not make a "strong" wheel.

That guy was and idiot!
he didn't 'curb' his wheels...
He lost control and spun sideways into the curb at a high speed on a wheel that already had a fracture.

Post the details next time boffo!

Learn to drive and you won't have problems like that

Hey I read this in the post, so Im just quoting the dude.

"Learned my lession, keep your car in gear when your turning! hit/ran up this little curb and the rotas couldnt handle the impact.... (which wasnt very much) and broke. The previous owners of the wheels cracked one of his, so i guess that one was bound to crack on me too. So becareful when you buy used wheels, mine probably had a slight crack on it. My rear wheel got curbed too"

it's better to bend a $10 rim than a $500 rim. I say go for it! I almost got Rotas too, I was/am in love with the GT3 wheel. The price, the look, the availability... everything about that rim is hot!! do it! do it!

Oh hell, Id buy rota rims too, if you don't drive harshly there's no reason why any rim would break. Buy em

For a red civic, I would say black rims, or bronze rims or any other dark rims and that's about it.

Style is your call. As long as you like it, just buy it. But don't put white rims on a red car, that's just my opinion.
