i used roughly 3/4's of an ounce for every 10 gallons, because i was first unsure of its effects and what it may do to my car

but i have read that 3 ounces per 10 gallons is the ultimate % gain... so i may up it next time

awesome stuff - i asked my friends brother who is a chemist and works for the pentagon, very knowledgable, he says the acetone will definitely boost the mileage because it is a more volatile fluid so during the combustion is gives more power, but it will eventual destroy the valves because it produces alot more heat.

as for the heat issue, i dont know if that would be true, if you keep your oil cool, you shouldnt have a problem...

just out of curiousity, would a car running with a petrol/acetone mix still pass etest? i know theres additives that are meant to help your car get through etest, but does this just do the opposite?

I would think it would give you better results because if acetone alows for a hotter burn, then that results in a more efficient and cleaner burn. Thats just my opinion though.

I didnt laugh but we need a more better approach in testing this. How can we be sure that posters who say this works are actually trying it out?

I for one can post and say I added acetone and it gave x amount of increase in mileage...

I dunno. I guess we all have to try this ourselves to know if it works.

Well it WILL damage components in the system. The acetone most likely will not damage when diluted in gasoline, but what do you think will happen to the filler neck from the cap to the tank? It will get eaten away by the pure acetone you are pouring in your tank. Unless someone can confirm that our filler necks are metal and not rubber??

fill up your gas in a portable tank and then mix in the acetone and then pour it in your car

Well i've tried this and so far on the first tank i can notice an increase in mileage. But then again it could be the warmer weather giving me better mileage

I think you may want to be careful about the possibility of engine detonation. If this stuff is so volatile, it may detonate pre-ignition and cause engine much bigger problems long term.

I don't think it would be too bad for small mixtures, but maybe if you put too much..

the neck is metal not rubber.
and acetone is not a strong enough thinner to burn material.
it barely removes car paint unless you rub the **** out of it.

yea but seriously anyone who pretended they put this stuff in and got milage honestly just needs a LIFE.
like how does you pretending to put this is and getting more milage make you cooler in any way?

people just need to learn the difference between what lie is actually worth saying.

and i for one dont think anyone here would lie about this.

agree and disagree.
acetone it self is not strong enough and i dont think is explosive either just flamable. that being said with a small mixture into gas wouldnt cause it to pre detonate.
